I use a mac lip pencil in the color lipstick I'd be wearing to fill in my lips and wear a lip baume or a gloss, depending on how wet I want my lips to look.
It gives good coverage for a few hours and you're only touching up the baume.
ETA: BnB, good call: the Stila gloss is amazing.
