I think there is a different way that the terrorists "succeeded", and it is the same way they "succeeded" with 9/11. If you are a radical terrorist type supported by only a handful of hopefully rich but certainly crazy people, the thing you most want is a "movement", and to have a movement, people must give you credance and pay attention to you. And by effecting the change of a government, a.Q. shows they have an impact, which will assist them in gaining more support. Just as they gained enormous visibility by virtue of 9/11, so that today they seem to be just about the only game in terrorist town.

Are you not affiliated with a.Q? Just some garden variety African neo-communist group looking to gain power? Give it up, forget it, because the people want the real McCoy, the meanest dudes in town, the big Q. And we did as much to build these guys up as did the fall of the conservatives in Spain.
