I intentionally watched last night to see if it was as horrible as you and Salon thought. It was.

I agree. Her other issues were mostly emotional -- she wanted to win the pageant to make her husband sorry he didn't treat her better (and we assume would then dump his ass).

I couldn't believe they did all that lipo on FFAC and the doctor didn't even try to convince her that a full D cup would look ghastly on her. The collagen in the lips was too much for both women.

MW actually was pretty slim, just a bit saggy (and really saggy in the waist). She had a puffy under-eye area, somewhat hang-dog eyes.
The tummy tuck did a lot for her but I don't think they did much to improve her face and what they did made her look like a completely different person, not a prettier version of herself.
The part I thought was icky was that the "committee" made the decision on what work to do to the women, unlike Extreme Makeover where the women say what they want or the doctors suggest things. As for the pageant thing, I'd think just leaving with a zillion dollars of free cosmetic surgery would be better than having to compete against other women in the Swan pageant but I guess that's why they chose women so insecure they should never have been OKed for surgery in the first place.
