Two words - communicable disease. Just tell them that one of you or one of your kids or all of you are sick with a nasty gastrointestinal flu and the doctor has told you that it is contagious and to keep away from others until the vomitting and diarrhea stop.
Of course, that won't help you the next time they come to town, but it should work this time.
