Why buy for resale value? If you like to have a new car every few years, just lease. Buying for resale just means sticking yourself with what other people want, not what you want. It's why every house looks like a stupid mcmansion, with the half brick, half aluminum siding, the palladian windows, and all the stupid gables--because that's what other people want.
