I got ripped on by my first semester small group contracts professor-turned-highly-overpaid-author-of-overhyped-legal-thriller-set-in-upper-class-African-American-community for using "incent." After the third or fourth time I used it (it was rampant at the company where I'd worked before law school), he turned to me and said, "What is that word you keep using? What does it mean?" When I explained, he said, "I think you mean "induce."
Ass-face, but it's stopped me from using it.
