Let us know what you settle on. "I'll never get my kid a cell phone" is rapidly bending to some practicalities of middle school.

The Brazenette wants an iPhone. I am thinking about caving for her birthday.

Virgin America has an unlimited voice and data plan for less than $50 a month. The phone is spendy though.

Indeed.

People, you're all big shot lawyers. Get the kids their phones already. And accept the fact that before they head off to school, you're getting them a car, too. For your own convenience.

It is way easier to text your kids "meet at 7 in front of the school; have to go to G'mas" during the day when you remember Grandma's expecting you for dinner than to actually plan everything before they leave in the morning knowing you'll have no contact until they get home after band practice, theater rehearsal, and a fro-yo trip with their friends.
