They show some money shots.
I would actually like to know how they filmed some of the jungle shots, so I wouldn't mind a "making of" for that.

For the arctic one, the music got ominous, and they showed the ox baby left behind in the panic and totally vulnerable, and the arctic wolf closing in. Then, there was just a shot of the wolf howling. There were some other similar techniques going on. Build up to horrible death in the wild, and then nothing. On to the next subject. I guess there were a few shots of foxes making off with baby birds and such. But I was wondering if the show had a kinder, gentler ethic to it.

SPOILER SPACE!!!! Hell-OOO??!!??!!??
Yeah, the music is a bit on the overdramatic side. Maybe I'll discuss it with my scorer friend this evening.

SPOILER SPACE FOR ncs:
Wait, I thought the wolf got the baby caribou? For that one, they only showed the initial grasp of the baby and first few bites (albeit from a distance).

You may be right. I looked and a fox was going after a bunch of oxen who had previously been banging holes in the ice. He had no luck. Then some other stuff happened and there was a bit of a stampede and the little baby ox or maybe caribou was stumbling along with its baby legs, and the orchestral strings played low and loud, and the wolf moved in. But I thought they completely skipped the attack. "In the herd's panic, one baby has been left behind. [Swelling music of death.] For the arctic wolf, this means a meal. [Wolf howling] Back to our friends the penguins, where the temperature has dropped to absolute zero."

Ah. I think you were watching "Ice Worlds" while I was referring to "Pole to Pole*", which is an introduction/summary of the series.
But it's not like they didn't show the baby penguins essentially freezing to death in "Ice Worlds" b/c they got lost - that was awful.
*then again, this may have been the gangbang DVD I rented.
