Did anyone check to see if it is in Syria?

That isn't at all what I said, and you'd be well advised to listen to a lawyer from the 1950's. I'm not the raver when you and I start up.

Welch: Senator, may we not drop this? We know he belonged to the Lawyers' Guild. And Mr. Cohn nods his head at me. I did you, I think, no personal injury, Mr. Cohn?

Cohn: No, sir.

Welch: I meant to do you no personal injury.

Right. The arguments for keeping an ex-gov't official on the commission apply equally to allowing the current AG on the commission. Excellent response.
Little did I dream you could be so reckless and so cruel as to do an injury to that lad. It is, I regret to say, equally true that I fear he shall always bear a scar needlessly inflicted by you. If it were in my power to forgive you for your reckless cruelty, I would do so. I like to think I'm a gentle man, but your forgiveness will have to come from someone other than me.

Why the FUCK is Gorelick on the 9/11 Commission?!?!?!?

So Ty and Sidd, since you place such stock in what this Kean guy says, defend this comment of his in regards to whether Gorelick should stay on the 9/11 Commission (if you can):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Apr14.html

Quote:
"We don't want to get in a fight with the attorney general, and I hope he doesn't want to get in a fight with us," said commission Chairman Thomas H. Kean, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. But "people ought to stay out of our business."
JFC. What an ass.

See yet again a Rep willing to call it when another Rep does something wrong.

Except in Hank's case.

What's the problem? Ashcroft is trying to divert attention from his own problems by attacking the commission, and the commission is telling him to shut the fuck up. Slade Gorton (another Republican) essentially said the same thing, as reported at the end of the NYT article I posted earlier.

That little passage was around before blogs or Robert Fisk were a twinkle in anyone's eye.

But way to prove you read the post.

What's the problem when he tells people to stay out of his business on the issue of a conflict of interest on the 9/11 Commission? Are you serious?

This is a commission that is supposed to be doing the people's business. What an arrogant and wrong-headed thing for him to say.

Ok, you post a Greek passage - then a link to Blog where some doofus praises Robert Fisk and condemns the US for finally acknowledging that the so-called "right of return" is a ludicrous non-starter that no one will ever take seriously.

Please clarify (a) what I didn't read and (b) what makes this any different from any one of a gazillion Thottam posts, save the silly moniker like "Tears in Rain" or "Boxer"?

I am constantly intimidated by your incisive use of facts in your insults.

It was "racist fuck" or something a few days ago, wasn't it?

Dodd Apologizes for Byrd Tribute Remarks

http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.as...20040415a.html

Quote:
David Almasi, director of the black leadership group Project 21, noted that the NAACP never accepted Lott's apology, despite his repeated public pleas for forgiveness.

"But now, with Chris Dodd, nobody has really stepped forward to criticize him except conservatives who are pointing out the double standard," Almasi said. "And backhandedly yesterday, the NAACP gave him a seal of approval by having their Connecticut chapter say a private phone call [apology] is OK. Maybe he should go on BET."

The lack of outrage from the NAACP and other black groups indicates that it's merely a case of "political back-scratching" on the part of liberals, Almasi said.

"Dodd does essentially the same thing that Trent Lott did two years earlier and it's not an issue," Almasi said. "It just shows that when it comes to concern about insensitivity, it really depends on who you are."

Where to start?

In a system that disqualifies for even a perception of conflict, we've got what's-her-name investigating herself. And we've got Kean angrily telling the AG to butt out, that that's not a conflict upon which he should be commenting.

Hmmm

I, too, am a secular centrist.

No big surprise.
