I have to ask: Are you one of those people who reads entire articles in the paper to your spouse over breakfast, rather than just noting "there's an interesting article about X behind the obituaries, you should check it out"?
BR(I must get the book, though)C

People have a right to say whatever they want. They also however have to learn to accept the ramifications for what they say. Thurgreed is exactly right on the FB. The problem with that sports commentator isn't that he used the word nigger but the fact that he obviously is always thinking about black people that way. His excuse, something along the lines of he was angry at the result so he said it is about as lame as your excuses for talking about people the way you do. Actually, I think it is lamer.
As far as teaching men to respect women, I think, perhaps, Mr. lets focus on women's looks and expect them to live up to absurd ideals, we'll need to start with you.

I'm equal opportunity. You know that.

Good God, no; not whole articles. I do, however, read bits of things aloud, if (i) they are worthy, (ii) I think he will find the bits amusing, and (iii) I know that he'll never read the entire article himself.
In response to the passive-aggressive, unstated question, the answer is, I am confident of (i), fairly certain that (iii) applies to most readers of this board, and admittedly less certain about the degree of positive reception that the bit would receive ((ii), above)from the exalted members of this board.
Horses and folks, etc.

I hardly find it fun to be threatened with Purgatory, of which I'm sure seventh-grade grammar was only a whiff.

So you are generally opposed to government spending, except when it is to tell us something we already know and which isn't relevant. Got it.

No, I think he's still opposed to public funding of the primaries, too.

No. It was self-interest. Money to that guy probably came back to Michigan. My opinion is purely pork.

I know Chalabi isn't a religious zealot, but he might be opposed to that, actually.

No need to pay for that nowadays. Depending on the diocese, you can get that for free. (Same basic afcat pattern.)

Ronnie's heart said the U.S. didn't do that, but his head said we did. Of course, Admiral Poindexter couldn't even remember whether he told him or not.
How would that sell today if you insert Rice and Bush instead?

So Much for Lack of Morale
In numbers that exceed the retention goals, yes. Good. Now, what are the figures for the Reserves and National Guard?
They're the ones who may well feel they got the old "bait and switch". Active duty is one thing, but going from one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer to repeated AD tours of six months to a year is another.

And they exceeded the goal by about 0.1% (29 people). I admire the people who reenlist. That kind of selflessness, sacrifice for what the gov't (and therefore country) has decided is for the good of the country as a whole, is great. Leaps and bounds ahead of say, quitting whining about taxes. Salt of the earth. Great people.
