Not really sure how you came to that conclusion unless what you are implying is that GWB doesn't drink because of the Bible. If that is what you are implying, I don't think that is why he doesn't drink. The accounts I have heard lead me to believe that his drinking was negatively affecting his marriage and Laura told him to straighten up his act on that front. He took her advice and quit drinking.
The fact that a man recognizes his drinking is negatively affecting his marriage and he quits to help his marriage is something entirely consistent with Christian teachings.

Neither is Hank. He is MWC. But you, OTOH, are sitting alone in a cold dark room making molds of your dick.

Economic reasons vs. patriotism
This evening I was watching Oliver North on Hannity & Colmes and he was interviewing this black kid (~22) from South Carolina serving in Iraq. He had taken enemy fire to the chest, but his body armour protected him, but took a bullet in the leg that went through his leg and exited. He was operated on and given the option of returning home because his injury qualified him for leave from combat duty. He chose to return to his unit and spoke about why. FYI - he didn't mention the extra combat pay.
I know I have stated this before, but those of you who talk about these people who enlist as enlisting because they have no other economic options are really selling these people short. I doubt the extra combat pay is why this guy stayed.

Don't discount the warm glow of my lava lamp. And my good looks. If I had your boobs, I'd fuck me.

Whom are you arguing with? Is this what Hank had in mind when he referred to the sound of one hand clapping?

Takin' it for whitey. Sounds like internalized racism to me.

Fighting in the US armed forces is taking it for whitey? I am sure this kid would be thrilled to hear that is what you think of his honorable service.

I'm not arguing. I'm asking a question. Two, actually.

How much have you been drinking? A lot or just a fair amount?
I was asking you whom you were talking to as you were going on and on about how poor people aren't the victims of circumstance or coerced by their plight but go into the armed forces humming the Battle Hymn of the Republic and carrying a picture of General Ashcroft in their breast pocket, or whatever it was. You seemed to be returning to the point quite a bit even though no one else seemed to care. So I wondered whom it was you were talking to. That's all. No biggy.

One* glass of wine with dinner, and it wasn't even very good. How 'bout you?

First of all, it is customary on the boards to quote the person you are replying to so they will know WTF is going on. Your post didn't even have the same subject line as mine. How was I supposed to know you were talking to me?
I wouldn't have even bothered to ask you who you were talking to except I know how sensitive you are when you think you are being ignored and I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
As for to whom I am addressing my comments, no one in particular. I am just memoralizing my thoughts here for all of posterity to see while I shop for bikinis on the interent. So far, I am leaning toward a halter top with a moderate coverage bottom. Full coverage is too granny for me and the thongs are just not something I could walk around in if children were anywhere near me. I think women who wear thongs when children are around are nasty pigs. Men, too, but I have yet to see a man in a thong bathingsuit in public.
*OK, 1 and 1/2 glasses, but it still wasn't very good.

And I never said that poor people aren't at least some times the victims of circumstance or coerced by their plight. What I said is that a guy who takes a few bullets of enemy fire and returns to his combat post when he was given the option of returning to the US ain't doing it for the combat pay differential.
Personally, I think you are bothered by me posting this because it makes you feel like you are less of a man in comparison.

I had a margarita earlier, and I am thinking about some port.
If you want to shop for women's clothing, the internet is a great thing. NTTAWWT.
If you're just ranting to no one in particular, don't let me interrupt.
Boy, that "less of a man" line sure was a zinger. Remind me not to mess with you when you've had a glass and a half of so-so wine.
