Now who is taking who literally (again). That was a one line joke. If you have payed attention to my serious posts on this forum, I think democracy and less economic concentration is the way to win this war. Hence the reason I support invading Iraq.

The reason the muslim masses hate us is because they have been programmed by these dictatorial regimes to hate us in order to give them something to focus on other than overthrowing the totalitarian regimes. The mid-East has abundant resources and the only reason that the masses live in poverty is because the wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few.

What we are doing in Iraq will bring stability to the region and eventually significantly reduce terrorism in the future if our goals can be accomplished.

What's your deal with this? Is your point that when someone dies days before the election, only the other guy can be elected? Our local elections in California happen all the time with dead candidates elected; if the dead guy wins, a special election is held. It's not exactly an absurd proposition, unless you subscribe to the Last Man Standing theory of democracy.

So is your point that Ashcroft should have been handed the victory the day Carnahan died, or that only write-ins could compete, or what?

We both live in fear that your man will start taking away the porno; is this just the way you've found to cope with the responsibility for that risk?

Maybe you haven't been keeping up today, but he left some guards unsupervised at this prison, and in the next week of so there'll be a tape of a first timer doing a gang bang, and she's this WV hottie. Ashcroft ain't got a problem with the porno- he just wants some creative control over it.

Whatever. It was too directly responsive to what you said not to use. Sorry you got bent out of shape about it.

Like in Baltimore?

I will live a life of leisure and quiet reflection if I win the lottery.

When Lungren ran against Grey ("Cold and Stiff") Davis a few years back, he got fewer votes in Los Angeles County than the incumbent sheriff did, notwithstanding that the guy had been dead for several days.

You nailed it. And we are not going to turn that around in 13 months. In 13 years we'll have a shot, but more likely a generation or 2.

Are we going to need to occupy them at $50-75 billion/year for that long?

I am not bent out of shape about it. I never get bent out of shape about anything that happens on these boards. My attitude about these boards is talk a bit of politics, talk a bit about implants, crack a joke here and there, flame someone here and there, and a good time will be had by all. Some days I learn something, some days, I teach something, some days I laugh a bit, some days nothing but cyberspace flotsam. It is what it is, but it in no way gets me bent out of shape.

I like arguing. I am a lawyer, remember? Sometimes I argue things I don't even agree with. I just want to argue the point because, well, because I can.

I also like to curse here because I don't do this IRL.

It won't happen in my lifetime, but if we don't start to try now, it will be delayed even longer. And the longer we delay this herculean task, the more time there will be for them to get a chemical/nuclear/biological weapon to use against the west.

We cannot let the mid-east continue to be the festering sore of this Earth that it is.

No, but it will be for the forseeable future. We are still occupying, and funding our occupation in, Kosovo

no but clinton felt we'd be safer if we stopped non-muslim from killing muslims. it was part of that winning their minds stuff Ty was talking about. I am sure it was sound theory, it being clinton and all. we just need to give it a few more years before we really start seeing the benfits.
