As long as historians like Michael Moore can get rich, I know all is right in the market world.
I'm heading out later to learn the truth about global warming. There's this new movie out . . .

Did you follow the NPR series last week on global warming? http://www.npr.org/display_pages/fea...e_1893089.html The series sort of made everyone look like a quack. The last guy was my favorite.

Liberal Media Bias
I heard some of it, and thought of BB. I hoped that the socialist MPR/PRI/Pacifica Foundation had not censored the program so that he could hear it.

US soldier POW and the Liberal Media
Isn't it curious that we never hear about the US soldier POW Maupin in the press? It has been over a month since his capture and the video showing him. I haven't seen anything reported on him since the video. The press has forgotten about him.
They cannot get enough of showing us the leash pictures but are silent about a US soldier held captive.

I have it on good authority from a high-level media source that the media is keeping quiet in order to help preserve his life. They are cooperating with the US military in this.*
It saddens me that you are more interested in titillating stories than you are in preserving the life of one of our own courageous fighters for liberty and truth. You clearly do not care about the this patriot's welfare, nor do you have any consideration or sensitivity whatsoever for this soldier's family that is anxious for news yet willing to bear the hardship of ignorance if it means that their warrior will live just one day longer.
*OK, I made this up. But it seems entirely plausible.

By God, then, get on the horn to your buddies Ailes, Murdoch and Limbaugh and get them to DO something about it!
If the media was focusing a lot on a U.S. POW story -- i.e. human interest pieces on his life, family, requests for updates from the Army, etc. -- it would not help the administration. You would then be ranting that we should be hearing more about the good work done by the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who are NOT captured.
Reading most of your posts is like passing a traffic accident on the highway. Responding is like slowing down to look carefully at that accident; we know we shouldn't do it -- it just contributes to the congestion, but we can't look away.

What the fuck are you talking about? The family is actively trying to engage the media on this issue and bring attention to his plight. Just the other day it was reported in their local press that they sent out letters thanking everyone for their support. However, that news never made it any further than their local papers. I only know about it because I bookmarked the websites of their local news media and check back to see if there is any news.
There is news, but it is just being reported locally. Apparently, the national media doesn't think it important enough because all their efforts are spent on rehashing what went on in Abu Ghraib, which is over now. Maupin is still being held hostage and you never hear anything about his family and what they are going through.

You are an idiot. I often post about the deaths and injuries being suffered by the US troops and express my grief and sadness over this. You OTOH are constantly focusing on attacking anything the admin does because you feel it is in your political best interest. I haven't heard much from you about this POW. So fuck yourself asshole.

Really, the media has done the war effort a great service by showing the pictures of what happens to people taken prisoner by our troops. Of course, publicly, no one with any brains will say that they support this kind of behavior. It is not politically expedient. But now, all the Iraqis who think we are wussy pushovers who have comfy jails that are better than home know better, and will be more willing to talk.
You are undermining the war effort. Traitor.

You are an idiot, too. Having concern for a POW and wanting to be informed on his family by the media is patriotic.
You Dems take glee in this stuff because you think it will cost Bush the election. You may be right that it will cost Bush the election, but you sicken me.

By promoting divisiveness through your vilification of half the country, you are undermining the war effort. Traitor.

You are such an idiot. The unrelentless showing of these photos and rehashing over and over again every tiny little development in that story is ridiculous. There are real stories going unreported.

Your harsh criticisms of venerable American institutions like our free press are undermining the war effort. Traitor.

Meanwhile, Gaza is exploding
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=5181117
- RAFAH, Gaza Strip (Reuters) - Israel's army killed at least 19 Palestinians Tuesday in the heaviest raid inside the Gaza Strip for years as tanks and infantry thrust into a militant stronghold despite an international outcry.
The army said there were no plans for any systematic demolition during what it called an open-ended operation to stop the smuggling of weapons through tunnels from nearby Egypt.
The raid exacted the highest single-day Palestinian death toll -- militants and civilians alike -- since May 2002 when 23 were killed in an army sweep into the nearby Khan Younis area.
The Rafah hospital morgue became so overloaded Tuesday that five bodies were shifted to vegetable freezers in a nearby market for preservation, medics said.
BIGGEST RAID SINCE 1967 WAR
Israel had amassed more forces in Gaza than at any time since occupying it 37 years ago, commentators said, for a raid launched after militants killed 13 soldiers there last week -- the biggest blow to the army in two years.
Hey, CNN, WaPo and the NYT, do you think you can show that photo of the Iraqi on the leash one more time? I have only seen it 1,589 times so far and it isn't like there is anything else important going on in the world that needs to be reported.
