There is that.
And that game can be fun, even to the point that you end up at the O.G. It only gets old once you realize that Clinton ain't ever gonna leave.

Bob Kerrey - What an Asshole
What an asshole Bob Kerrey is. First he repeatedly refers to Condi as "Dr. Clarke" then he acts like there is something wrong with the fact that the war on terrorism is really a war on radical islam.
Hello idiot. Radical islam attacked us on 9/11. You bet your ass it is war on radical islam. And any other organized hate group that dares to attack the US.
This fucking PC anti-american crap just makes my blood boil. The fact that these fuckers call their hate group a religion should not be respected.
What a fucking asshole that Bob Kerrey is.

2 scotches, 1 5 mile run later, now I get you. Put aside how dumb people hear the statement, the question really is did Dodd know that:
Some of the most prominent Northern abolitionists were virulent racists. Also, I don't think it's necessary to surmise that he would have joined the Klan in 1865. The Klan was a reaction to Reconstruction, which was farther-reaching than the Emancipation Proclamation (which, I'll note, didn't even apply to W.Va.). His membership in the Klan in the 1940s would meant something different than (1) fighting for the Confederacy or (2) membership in the Klan when it was founded
When he said the KKK guy would have big time helpful back in '61. Does dodd have a history degree?
Or was it like this:
Quote:
Dodd:
Biff I'm looking at my remarks for the Byrd tribute, and this whole Civil War thing, we should drop the line, shouldn't we, I mean the whole KKK thing?
Senior Legislative aide Biff Swarmy:
Believe me Sneator, the boys and I thought thru that, but I think we're okay, you see some of the most prominent Northern abolitionists were virulent racists. Also, I don't think it's necessary to surmise that he would have joined the Klan in 1865. The Klan was a reaction to Reconstruction, which was farther-reaching than the Emancipation Proclamation (which, I'll note, didn't even apply to W.Va.). His membership in the Klan in the 1940s would meant something different than (1) fighting for the Confederacy or (2) membership in the Klan when it was founded.

Because A, if Dodd couldn't offer that justification, it's nunc pro tunc, which shouldn't work here.

Call him an asshole if you like, but I would hesitate to call Bob Kerrey anti-American. Few Medal of Honor winners are.

The fact that he served honorably and heroically in a war does not mean that he is not acting in an anti-American way now. Just like the fact that someone in the past has acted in an anti-American fashion does not preclude them from acting patriotically at a later date.
And before you go around citing his medal of honor, you might want to review his own statements about his role in Thanh Phong.

Why are you even bothering to continue this discussion with him? He will say the most inane things to defend a Dem no matter how indefensible what the Dem did is.
Have another scotch and let this one go. I let it go when they couldn't articulate how/why what Lott said was worse than what Dodd said. Nuff said.

Polls
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,116583,00.html
so new poll show dead heat betwen the Mass. sneator w/o the resolve to drown his dates and The President of the United States of America.
What i don't get is why these polls haven't gone to electoral level. Say its 50/50but bush wins texas 70-30, that means he will probably lose- same with frenchy and margin of victory in Calif.
Anyone have apost for breakdown of states/polls- unless HRC is planning on introducing the amendment to get rid of the electoral college that she promised 11/00- haven't heard any more on that.

That would be an expensive poll to do. They would need a large enough sample size for each state and that would cost a bunch. I think as you get closer to the election you will see polls like that. But to spend that kind of money this far away from the election doesn't make sense. All that is valuable to look at now are trends in the polls and how the polls change according to various events.

I heard him say his piece about the war on radical Islam, and I didn't think he was complaining about it. I thought he was calling it what it is, like you do. His point was that terrorism is a means, not an end.
But I didn't hear much of him, so maybe I misunderstood.

but isn't the alternative, that a poll may be interesting but meaningless. sort of like an atticus post.

I didn't have the luxury of watching the hearings given that I must work. This link has what appears to be a transcript:

If you had said occasionally funny but meaningless, I would say that sums up AG's life to date. But don't take my word for it, me being humorless and all.
