I thought conservatives were comfortable with the profit motive.

Don't worry. After three-plus years, everyone's expectations are already sub-basement.
Kind of like having a special needs child. You just hope for different things from them.

Comfortable with someone being able to make a profit doesn't mean that we are so stupid we don't believe that it would influence someone or bias them.
I don't know whether Clarke is lying and I don't know if Ashcroft is lying. All I can know is what they said and whether there is any evidence to back up what they said, like documents and others' testimony that agrees with their version of events.
But just because Clarke said one thing and Ashcroft said another thing doesn't prove that Ashcroft is lying.
Often times two people attend the same meeting or witness the same event and their recollections of the meeting or the vent are different. This doesn't mean one is lying, necessarily, though. Sometimes people have faulty memories, sometimes their memories are colored by subsequent events, and sometimes they are falsifying facts. You figure out what actually happened by looking at any objective evidence that is available and getting others' versions of the events in question.
But you don't just jump to the conclusion that the person whose version best suits your political agenda must be the giving an accurate account.

I wasn't sure if they are now part of homeland security but I just checked and that is the secret service that got moved from treasury to DHS.
I always thought it was odd that the secret service is part of the Treasury Dept. I suppose there is some historical reason for this and if I cared enough about it, I would google it, but I don't.

Hank's first post today was not a "disagreement" with me, nor an invitation to "debate substance." It was an attack, plain and simple, in which he accused me of being biased against Koreans and Italians. I responded by calling him the racist piece of shit that he is. Yes, I went over the top -- that was intentional, and intended to annoy him. I know, that was dangerous -- I risked his rapier-like wit calling me "stupid" again -- or maybe even "really, really stupid." Such is life.
You chose to use anti-Italian slurs the moment I identified myself as Italian. This speaks volumes about who you are.
|
people who actually read this crap have their opinions of both of us, I'm comfortable with that.
You go overboard for people posting slurs- that speaks "volumes."
You post things that show you think in ways that want to confine people to little boxes where you can visualize them- thats okay and not at all bad.
again, To all thinking people, your mindset is clear.

Ok, it wasn't that bad. I give him a B- (a real B-, not say a Stanford B-, which is a D everywhere else).

When you dated the Repubs, was it during a counter-cultural "bathing and smelling clean is something men force on women" phase? I know it makes me an incomplete lover, but I gotta eat with this tongue.

Have you had sex with a Rep?
I have had good sex with both Reps and Dems, although most of the guys I have been with are Reps. The only Reps I have had sex with were the libertarian kind of Reps. I would never have sex with a religious conservative. They probably wouldn't want to have sex with me, either. Too incompatible.
I have been pretty lucky in that I enjoyed most sexual experiences I have had. Not saying I have orgasmed everytime, but sex can still be good without an orgasm. I think it took me at least 2 years of having sex to be able to come during sex.

I was unclear. The blame, in my mind, lies with Bush. His motivation, in part, was to assuage some of the Dems. (See Teddy's education bill, for example). I blame Bush for this ineffectual stab at trying to make nice with people who are never going to make nice with him. I don't think he needed to do what he did. So, no I don't blame the Dem minority. I blame Bush.

What, do you guys just keep repeating each other until you think your mistakes become Truth through simple repetition?
Oh, yeah. That's right. Bush lied. The museum died.
Sheesh.
