Post-Holiday Boredom

I am totally and completely unmotivated to work today. My weekend was spent shoveling more than 3 tons of soaking wet dirt three times and I am still exhausted. We had to shovel it once to get it out of the 6 foot deep hole. Once onto the back of the pickup and once out of the back of the pickup onto the property of the landscaping company who so reasonably agreed to take said dirt off my hands for a measly $7 per load. It took three trips to get rid of all of the dirt.

What's worse than paying $7 per load of dirt to get rid of it is knowing that said landscaping company will now turn around and sell said dirt for $25/yard.

That and the sore muscles.

P.S. No, we were not digging a grave. Though I felt like I needed one after we were done.

P.P.S. I realize this isn't going to do anything to get the board moving, but I have nothing else to talk about today. I'm out of comments on the double anal thread and I could care less about Lindsay Lohan's legs (other than to say that if they were wrapped around me, I really wouldn't complain).

Digging your pool? You can hire people to do this for you, you know.

My main thought on Lindsay Lohan is that it's a real shame she's only 17. If she looks like she's 30 at 17, it doens't bode well for her at 25. I wonder if it's something about life as an actress that ages these girls so fast, or if the industry picks them so young because they look like ingenues, so they just naturally aim for the girls who bloom brightly early on, but burn out like a nova by the time they turn adult?

Boss Paul: That ditch is Boss Kean's ditch. And I told him that dirt in it's your dirt. What's your dirt doin' in his ditch?
Luke: I don't know, Boss.
Boss Paul: You better get in there and get it out, boy.

Why didn't you just advertise that you had free topsoil to anyone who would come dig it out and transport it? Or was it a time-sensitive grave?

Close, but no cigar.

At any rate, stop being so elitist. Some people enjoy working on their own property.

Ah, who am I kidding? My wife is a cheapskate and won't pay to have others do suc h work, especially when her father, who owns a construction company, is always willing to help for free. The catch is that I also have to help for free. Ugh.

At least she's always willing to give me a couple nice massages after she forces me to engage in heavy physical labor.

Claiming that others are "elitist" in suggesting that you hire someone to do heavy manual labor you apparently hated and then claiming that you enjoy working on your property (after the whole point of your post was that you hated it and it sucked) is really quite tedious.

Does the construction company not have a backhoe?

I can't believe I'm participating in the dirt thread. A new low. Sometimes a hole is just a hole.

Lily pond? I briefly thought about putting one in my back yard this weekend, and then decided that I'd rather get drunk. I think it was a good choice, though I did make some decisions while drunk that in retrospect may not have been wise.

I see you have never dug a 6 foot gra... er.... hole before, nancy-boy!

Only the first 4-6 inches of dirt is top soil. The rest is a mixture of sand and clay that, when wet, weighs about 20 pounds per shovel full.

I guess we could've white-trashed it and put a sign in the front yard saying "FREE DIRT", but it was just easier to get rid of it. Plus, it looked really bad sitting in our driveway, especially since it was rain and dirty water was running all over the place.

You said all the stuff that was dug up could be sold by the landscaping company for $25/yard? If it is worth $25/yard, people will come dig it up to get it for free.

I'm fairly certain after I said some people enjoy working on their property, I said "who am I kidding?" and offered a different explanation as to why I did such work and that my subsequent explanation made no mention of me enjoying such work.

Why do I even fucking respond to you?

Yes, they do, but it is located in another state.

And stop complaining. This thread has legs. You are one step away from combining dirt and hoes to come up with something interesting.

I do not know why you are responding to me. Your stories suck. Your jokes suck too -- the one about "liking to work on your property" might have been slightly amusing had you not made it clear beyond a doubt that you hated it in the prior post.

However, I do appreciate that you are posting.
