I hate Chris Chelios, but even he probably doesn't call them "jai-rows."

And, for the 3 other posters (and thousands of lurkers -- right?) who care, it's time for the Stanley Cup, Game Seven Edition of NHL Playoff Haiku:

Who will hoist the Cup?
unless God hates Canada,
Jarome Iginla.
Wacky wacky way out prediction:

Tonight was the last game ever of the NHL in its current incarnation. After a 2+ year work stoppage, the league will be disbanded. All contracts will be voided. Two rival leagues will spring up. Owners of NHL teams will keep the rights to the team names, some but not all of which will be used in the new leagues. Litigation will ensue over who has the right to the NHL's premiere asset, the Stanley Cup itself. Eventually the leagues will consolidate and form a new super league, with the 2 leagues going to a MLB-format with limited interleague play. This new league will re-capture the name NHL, and a new golden (jet) age will be upon us.

Nice elbows and tongue action

One last chance for everyone's favorite boy Jesse-the-bachelor.

Jesse Palmer, who gained fame for his appearance on the reality TV show this summer, is currently the starting quarterback ahead of Eli Manning and Kurt Warner.

Let's all say it together....what?

No one expects that to last, of course, not with Warner brought in last week to tutor the latest heir to the Manning quarterback dynasty. But long enough for Palmer to impress new coach Tom Coughlin.

Yes, well that's better. All is right with the world. not that anyone cares, but here's your link

More on the Dialect Survey

Some friends and I had a pet peeve about people who would say "The City" to refer to NYC. For awhile, any time someone would say "I was partying in the City this weekend," we would reply "Poughkeepsie?"

And next time I want Shotgun, I'm going to call "high hosey."

Tempest Storm

Burlesque star Tempest Storm, at age 67, will be performing at the O'Farrell Theatre in San Francisco.

Work-appropriate link.

I'm sure Slave can get a non-work-appropriate link.

All's Well That Ends Well (an ebay story)

So, there was a lunchbox that kept escaping me. It's a great Davy Crockett lunchbox form the '50s with him fighting an Indian on one side and a bear on the other. Last one I lost in the final 5 seconds for a final selling price of 179.50. SO i sucked it up and registered for DTB's www.auctionsniper.com It worked. I won another lunchbox and for substantially less. I am a changed woman. Y'all should register for it and put either DTB or me down as your referral so we can get free snipes (really, you should put her down, but if for some strange reason you want to put me down, I'll love you forever). So, I won my lunchbox AND the person gave me feedback instantly after I paid--another gripe of DTB's. It's like DTB has changed my life or something.

that is all.

good bye

speaking of ebay

Watch out for the scam detailed in the article quoted below:

"The sellers always use the exact description of the item that can be found at Amazon. The items always include the text "Please allow 5 BUSINESS DAYS for shipping after receipt of payment." Shipping always costs $10, and the sellers generally deal in tools, household appliances and electronics. And the auctions are almost always one-day auctions, probably because the scam artist is always in a race against time, trying to order the merchandise before the stolen credit card account is shut down."

I read a description of her show from a few years ago at the Miss Exotic World competition in Strip City. All the other Exotic dancers were very impressed.

Man Charged With Chalupa Assault

Tue Jun 8, 7:27 AM ET Add Strange News - AP to My Yahoo!

DES MOINES, Iowa - A man who claimed he didn't get the taco he paid for has been charged with assault for allegedly pelting a Taco Bell clerk in the face with a chalupa.

Nancy Harrison told police she was working the drive-through Thursday night when Christopher Lame, 24, ordered some food.

He later came into the store, complaining he didn't get the taco he had ordered, police records say. Harrison said that when she asked for a receipt, he went back to his car and brought back the bag.

Harrison said she told him the store was closing, and as she turned away, a chalupa hit her in the face near her right eye. She said she ran into the parking lot and took down the license number as the motorist was driving away.

Lame was identified through the license number.

He is scheduled to appear in court June 15.

When I first moved to DC, I was at the scene of a much better fastfood incident.

I was in line at a Roy Rogers, to get coffee. Ahead of me was a very tall young effeminate guy, about 6'6", in a bright purple suit with a bright purple hat. He was very skinny. Think T. Prince build, but femmy.

There is a walk-along counter, with the cooks on the other side. Several boxes of already cooked sausage sandwiches are sitting at an area on the counter. A big burly guy is frying sausages, flipping them with a heavy spatula. A young woman takes the sausages, boxes the sandwiches and put them on the counter.

Anyway, purple guy wants a sausage sandwich, but not an old one. He asks for a fresh one- but the woman tells him they need turnover and he'll have to take one of those already done. the conversation breaks down quickly. Pretty soon he calling her a bitch and she's calling him a bitch. "You're a bitch!" "No, you're the bitch!"

All through this, burly guy is trying to maintain. I can see him taking deep breaths, and trying to concetrate on the work, flipping sausages with his heavy metal spatula.

Purple guys escalates by saying "Here, I'll get rid of the old ones"
and he starts throwing the sandwiches at the woman. Burly guy snaps: he runs to the counter and whips the spatula at purple guy. Narrowly missing purple guy's feet.

The manager then came out and kicks purple guy out of the store. Meanwhile, I was thinking he might have a little claim for the spatula thing but who knows.

by the time I got to the register, my coffee was cold- but I kept quiet.
