You say this only because you like to pretend that PA is somehow not really primarily in the midwest. Nice try. No go. It borders Ohio, which along with Nebraska is the epitome of the midwest.

How long must one work out consistently before one stops being kind of sore all the goddamn motherfucking time?

Thank you very much for adding that to the mental soundtrack. My heart was broken at a party in 1984 when that song was playing. To this day, certain things -- thinking about that song, the sight of a Flock of Seagulls haircut, listening to clips of Walter Mondale saying "where's the beef?" -- make me want to punch someone.

Pennsylvania is not midwest. Are you insane? It is mid-Altlantic. Philly is closer to the coast than, well, San Bernardino (actually they're probably about the same distance but Philly is closer with traffic conditions). Pennsylvania is rust belt but it shares very little in common with Indiana, Iowa, etc. Ohio is a melange. Rust belt meets midwest. Fancy.

ETA: Who here has lived in more parts of the country than I have? Anyone? As far as I can tell, the only parts I've missed (of the continental US, that is) are the deep south, though I got tastes of that in Texas, and the northwest. I know everything there is to know about all other parts of the country. Everything.

You have been to upstate New York. You know the Midwest does not end in Ohio.

Rust belt. It actually is not the same. Have you lived in the midwest (Chicago doesn't really count)?

You have no grain-producing-type midwestern states. I think you and she are equal -- she has the midwest, you have the deep south.

I've spent a bunch of time in Iowa, which I know doesn't really count, but still...
