I did the Marine Corp a million years ago. The split timers were marines. This one guy is yelling the times 23:50, 23:55, 23:60, 23:65......

I don't know if he had a bad watch or was just guessing time. I swear it happened, but what could he have been seeing that wouldn't have let him know not to that?

Did anyone watch the Navy-Notre Dame game?

Three overtimes? A 43 year streak broken? The Navy quarterback encouraging the Notre Dame crowd? That must have been amazing to watch.

I have no idea, Hank. That's why I'm asking her.

Because I'm a lazy sack of crap?

I just couldn't get up and get out when I had a long run by myself in front of me. By the end, though, I was panicking, and did what my coach told me, but by that time (taper time), that involved doing the last 10 miles 2 weeks before (and another 2 tacked on to get back to Team HQ from the finish) and then a 12-miler one week before.

Next time, I'll find someone to go with me. What are you doing next year for the 8 weekends before the NYC Marathon?

What did your tee shirt say?
It said "Mama's First Marathon".

The people who most often address me call me either Mama or Sweetie, and I didn't want to write "Sweetie", so I went with Mama.

Notre Dame cannot get slapped around enough.

Not that i have it in for Nebraska, but Kansas had to like putting up 76 points against a team that routinely did it to them over the past 40 years.

Navy deserved to win. Weis is a sack of shit. How do you not kick that field goal on 4th and 8? How did I get sucked in to such a stupid and meaningless game?

Isn't one of the many Notre Dame traditions to have shitty, unreliable kickers? I hardly follow them, but one indelible memory I have is that it's always a circus at that position, and they trot new people out to kick in the middle of games all season long.

I thought that was Florida State.

Different issue--their kickers are good except at the end of games against Miami.

ETA: BTW, what's happened to Miami and to Florida State (which anyone talks about only because they just beat BC)?

I kept waiting for all the people who thought Belichick should be run out of town on a rail to have something to say about Kansas, but it turns out they were busy that day.

does running up the score help you get into the Super Bowl? I forget how the NFL bowl selection rules go.

Saw it on Friday.

Hoffman is outstanding. Ethan Hawke is pretty good, but not as good as everyone else. Albert Finney is...Albert Finney (very good). Marisa Tomei is naked (topless) half the time and looks fantastic. And not fantastic for a 43-yr old - fantastic for any age. Her body is nearly perfect.

I didn't quite like it as much as the papers, but it was good. I thought there were some flaws in the story, but not in the acting. I won't provide any more info so as not to spoil it, but it's worth seeing.
You had me at naked.

Yummy.

This weekend, I watched the 4 episodes of Dirty Sexy Money that had accumulated on my Tivo.

This is the sliest, slickest show I've seen in a long time. An hour passes in like ten minutes.

And it does not hurt at all that Peter Krause is still totally hot.
