On a related confessional note, I saw Neko Case live earlier this year. I found that concert to be . . . fine. Fantastic voice. Dark, intriguing lyrics. But musically? Well, it was fine.

I will never own, or intentionally listen to, anything by either, but I would never have posted this w/o your post.
Music is subjective. You have made that point yourself here before. The same is true of writing and probably all art. In fact, the closest thing to a truth would be that if more than half of us like any one musician, that one musician is probably not really worth listening to. Think about it.
A few people like this Wilco, in fact love it. coltrane is going to buy new speakers for his roommate's television so he can listen to it. Good for those people.
Your writing a post that essentially provides an insight equivalent to "the sky is blue," is unnecessary- it is beneath you.

This parallels my opinion of you, except that I don't think you're talented.

Why did you have Old Style in the house if you don't like how it tastes? Aversion therapy? Also, while enraptured by Wilco, did you drink so much of the Old Style that you are still drunk, Mr. Sky Blue Sky?

I had a summer fling with a guy who played rugby at your college -- though I may be confusing it with your law school.
Either way, he was so... perfect.

It seems that, whenever former residents of Chicago visit, they feel the need to buy Old Style, drink one beer out of the six-pack, and leave the rest in my fridge. It's better than Heineken.

It's a chicago thing. My husband went to school there and he's forever quoting the commercials..."The Loop the loop, not LIP" and he's forever all about Dennis Farina on Law and Order as well.

Your post has even less of a point than mine, although I do not think that your writing it was beneath you.

ETA: It'll hopefully end up looking something like this.

Don't you know it's bad luck to knit anything for a boyfriend? You can't knit stuff for him until you're married. Otherwise, you'll break up!!!!
I can't stress this enough:
PUT DOWN THE KNITTING NEEDLES!!

You know, you aren't supposed to give anybody knives either. It's bad luck, but apparently the bad luck can be mitigated by also giving silver money.
I have a friend who declared that you could not get married until you were given a fondue set and a KitchenAid mixer as shower gifts.
I have this fantasy of sending my boyfriend's ex a fondue set when she re-marries.
Some of you have told me this is a bad idea.

You can send me the fondue set when she remarries. I've always wanted a fondue set.
