dtb, this won't jinx the marriage, will it?

My wife knit me sweaters BEFORE the wedding, but she stopped before also, because I didn't wear them enough, or I wore store bought sometimes.
I'm not sure the break up of the "knitting for" part of the relationship makes this good news to you, plus if I had a good hand knit skull blanket I would never use store bought, so it probably wouldn't apply.

Ditto. I have that one and if I use the full packet, it's too strong for me.

I wondered if they showed that one all over the country or just in heavy Scandihoovian places. It has an extra level of humor here for those of us Scandis who know of the historic (and continuing if you grew up in a community that was mostly one or the other) rivalry between Swedes & Norwegians. I think they got good news when they found out they were Swedes and not Norwegians!

Walking out of a restaurant on one anniversary, I found $68 on the sidewalk, and used it to buy a Wusthof 9-inch Japanese cook's knife, which has been awesome.

I DVR everything, so it's rare for me to see any commercial, but I did happen to see this one while watching something live the other day.
Of course you think it's better to be Swedish--you don't have any Norwegian. I have slightly more Swedish than Norwegian ancestry, but I think Norwegian is better--Swedes don't have the sweaters, or the fjords, or the Viking history, or the gjetost!

Most of my knives are gifts from my parents, and our relationship has only improved since I started getting them. Coincidentally, it was when I left home, so . . . maybe we'd have some kind of perfect FANTABulous relationship if there'd been no knives.

That is my very favorite knife. I default to it 97% of the time.

Saabs and Volvos, baby. And who ever heard of Norwegian Erotica?
Where do the Danes fall in all this? My maternal grandfather was half Swede, half Dane. My mom's family still makes Norwegian jokes, but I've never really figured out the Danish part.

I'd think that 9-inch Japanese cook would use a terribly small knife.

A big 2 to that. I tried to find a picture, but could only find one with dimples on the side. Mine predated the dimples.

The Danes end up being the butt of jokes for both Swedes and Norwegians, especially really punny ones that capitalize on odd Danish pronunciations of cognate words. Norwegians think Danes talk like they have a mouthful of hot potatoes.

(slightly less Danish than Norwegian)
(and, truth be told, more English than any of those)
