Last time I played organized basketball, and this is going waaay back, I just wore tidy whiteys under the shorts. Jocks are uncomfortable.

At least at hipster bars in Houston, Texas on the evening of October 21, 2004, the answer is, sadly, yes. Perhaps it was unfortunate timing, and I'm willing to go out and do further research, but the trend did persist to some degree in the hipster set at a swankier hotel bar on the evening of October 23, 2004.
