Seriously though, I'm quite thankful I didn't have to experience childhood in a big city. I liked riding my bike to third grade and playing pick-up football in a friend's backyard. I feel sorry for her son.

I had to ride on the bus where a mean 6th-grade girl named Janine pulled my pigtails every day until my mother and my teacher bookended her at the start and end of the bus ride and told her to knock it off.

Saw Motorcycle Diaries last night...about Guevara's travels before he became "Che". Was beautifully done and accurate as far as I can tell. And the scenery is beautiful too. The Argentine spanish was a little harder for me to follow than the Peruvian, but the subtitles help....god for those who want to practice their spanish comprehension. Definitely the best film of that genre i've seen in a loong time.

Also have now seen the preview for "Ray" the Ray Charles film....looks good. Can't wait for that.

Manny invented this. Well, I lie. He started doing it when he was in Cleveland, after Jim Thome invented it. They apply it to their helmets, and then if you notice, they touch the top of their helmets between pitches, when they do all their "adjusting", so they can apply more tar to their bats during an AB.

No joke, I used to ride my pony around town like a bike. All the girls would get off the bus, get on our ponies and ride them to our friends' houses and maybe down to th egeneral store where we'd tie them up and then go in and buy candy. I had a very happy childhood.

When I was a little girl in Poland, we all had ponies. My sister had pony, my cousin had pony, ..So, what's wrong with that?

thank you thank you. I kept saying to my husband "why are their helmets so dirty?" and he started to bug me about it - "Why are their uniforms so dirty? Why are their fingernails so dirty?" etc - you get the idea. I feel gratified knowing that others were wondering this same thing and there is a logical explanation. It was kind of distracting.

Hmm - I grew up in a small town and hated it hated it hated it apart from the fine ratio of hockey players to mere mortals. I read those Judy Blume books where Peter and Fudge were living in NY and was insanely jealous. DTB's kids are living the childhood of my dreams.
