The good news, at least in the Nnth Circuit, is that services providers (defined in such a way that it would clearly include lawtalkers) are not responsible for the statements posted by their users, even if they choose to monitor and have the right to edit.
Great. So can expect to see more personal ads from Amy Thottam?

What, do you have group meetings? Just how large is your sample?

I can't speak from experience here, since the cross section of my congregation with which I have engaged in sexual acts is limited. Also, is an S&M participant likely to let a partner know of their inclinations the first time, or is it more likely that they will ask for, um, more interesting activities only after first experiencing the basics and building some trust?

I assume you're using "created" loosely here. Jerry Siegel was from Ohio. To borrow a line from Chasing Amy, Joe Shuster was a "fucking tracer".

Edited to add link:

spree: link of Jerry Siegel's bio. Can find info on the fucking tracer as well.

pleasing everyone

This article should satisfy NotBob and Atticus.

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/22/sp...ll/22PROB.html

[spree: In trying to show how math plays in everyday life — at least for obsessed fans — the American Institute of Physics published an article on its Web site Friday offering a surprising statistic: in the past 50 World Series, nearly half — 48 percent — have stretched to the maximum seven games.]

Thanks, and thanks Not Bob. It is rather disappointing in light of the press it got from the NY Times. It's pretty second-rate (although what paralegal memo isn't?). A first-rate job would have been funny; this was kind of flat.
Needs more detail. Smell, size, flavor, color of each piece of sushi would have been at least what I expected. How many pieces of rice, how big are the seaweed pieces in the miso, brown rice, how many maggots, etc.

MY POINT WAS THAT YOU REFERRED TO A CAMPAIGN THAT SELF PROCLAIMED ITSELF THE I LOVE NEW YORK CAMPAIGN, NOT THE I HEART NEW YORK CAMPAIGN. CANT YOU READ AT ALL?

What's the difference? Same concept. Same thing.

THE DIFFERENCE IS THE SPELLING. AND SALON USED MY SPELLING< NOT THE BIANIC SPELLING. CANT YOU THINK AT ALL?

Again, what's the difference? You said you invented and popularized it. You didn't, whether it is proper English or not.

THE POINT BEING THAT I GREW UP IN A PLACE WHERE PROPER ENGLISH WAS SPOKEN AND WOULD NOT HAVE HEARD THIS. GO GET ALL 718 ON MY WHITE ASS IN YOUR REPLY WHY DONT YOU, WHICH WOULD BE OFFPOINT. CANT YOU THINK AT ALL?

I've seen the bullshit "fire" before, but none of the others. How does one throw a God?

Here's a good poll, what is the stupidest thing you have seen or heard someone say to a judge?
Said by federal prosecutor in criminal trial I was involved with:

(After defense makes argument re: order of questions/counts to be posed to jury on verdict form)

Judge: Response, counsel?

Prosecutor: Well, they have the better argument, but I could make the other one. Do you want to hear it?

Judge: No.

(Snickers from gallery, which includes the poor sap's supervisors...)

He did get to attempt to throw something together for a minute or two, but needless to say the defense got their way.

"Oops!" Poll

I had a hearing yesterday that was put off from last month because the opposing atty wasn't eligible to practice law (delinquent bar dues) and I called him on it (the bailiff was highly amused and asked yesterday if I would be dropping anymore "bombshells"). Yesterday, the atty brings it up that he is now eligible to practice law and the judge, who had totally forgotten says something like - "Oh, you're the one!" So he starts with one strike against him. Moral - if you do something stupid - don't remind the judge later.

And not quite poll-responsive, but a big (outable) oops, nonetheless...

I one had a very good legal assistant (other than the coke habit) who, put a bunch of joke language in a disclosure about how our damages were in the gazillions for having to put up with the intolerable bitch opposing counsel (it was quite funny, actually). I told him - go fix it and signed the last page. He fixed it, but didn't save it, so when he pulled it back up to print and mail......and when they got around to reading the thing several months later (after said legal assistant had been fired for other issues), I was stuck with a massive sanctions motion asking that I do community service, fines, etc. Let's say the judge was not amused, but we ended up settling the case, so I didn't end up dealing with it. (Pheeeww!)

reality tv

Anyone else watch the finale of Newlyweds last night? Nick seemed flat-out weary of her. It is actually starting to feel sort of sad to me. I hope they don't actually televise the eventual divorce.

And here is realityblurred's take on Joe $$ 2:

The debut of The Next Joe Millionaire flopped, placing sixth in the time slot with only 6.6 million viewers. Even 7th Heaven had better ratings. FOX entertainment president Gail Berman tells the AP, "We're disappointed. I wish I knew what happened last night." Gail, here's what happened: You were beaten by a WB show for being greedy bastards, trying to squeeze even more cash out of a successful but definitely one-note show.

I haven't had any desire to watch the second installment after the lame Disney ending of the first one, but that's just me.
