If I could check out for a spell, I'd spend six months or so at one of those monasteries in Thailand (convents, in my case) where you are silent all the time and just work and meditate the whole time (and eat now and then I guess). More and more I think I am going to do that at some point in the next five or six years or so. It would be just like totally checking out. I know someone who did it for three years. I don't think I could do that.

That is some serious shit. While I really like a nice silence now and then, I would go crazy after a week, let alone 6 months or 3 years. Man, I wouldn't want to be in the airplane seat next to you on the way back...yap yap yap...

Irony.

A 20-year-old Abington woman driving and talking on her cellphone died yesterday after her car plowed through the front of a Cingular Wireless store in West Bridgewater, police said.

The smartass post-guess scoring is fairly FBish, especially if you are zen with spelling errors.

Stephen King's The Dark Tower

Apparently, King's completed his seven volume monstrosity. Since I only really liked the first novel, I can't say that I much care. Overall review for those who care: http://www.sfsite.com/07b/gu156.htm

Are the parents of any under-age monkeys suing anybody over this one yet?

Well, that is interesting to me. I've told others I wouldn't mind a mountainside in Tibet for awhile. Christ, I'd go somewhere, anywhere, for a few weeks off to read a few books if I could.

I am king dork. 98.5. Except that I'm not king dork because I didn't do very well. And I got beat by the spelling Timmy on a few. I can't believe the Hotel California question was worth 10 points - probably because so few people know what the hell "colitas" even means. (I knew it from reading "The Straight Dope").

I've become close with a woman who lives in a buddhist monastery in Brazil. I'm hoping to go visit her there next year or so. Probably for two weeks or more.

Then probably the year after we do that, we'll go to Tibet. I don't know how long I'd be able to stay though, especially over the next year or so since I am embarking on some very large projects work wise.

That all said, I couldn't imagine just traveling for a year or so. I think I would need to find things to do. I'd rather go somewhere and work there for a while instead. Really get to know the place, the people, the culture. I don't see what good a couple weeks in a bunch of different countries will do me.

I'd probably come home more stressed then when I left.

I also don't see keeping a blog when I am gone. Internet access isn't going to be on the top of things I will concern myself with. I'll be happy to send postcards to someone though.
