The fact that 35% of the people voted for the winner means that 65% of the people did not. The problem was that those 65% split their votes in an inefficient way. I'd bet that the comic who eventually won would not have gotten more than 40% in a heads-up vote between em and the comic who came second.

I'm sure an Alternative Ordinal Voting system would have worked really well on a call-in/text message system.
