Just Don't Get it On Film

Mildly appropos, there is a big scandal in the sports world because a married college basketball coach (Larry Eustacy, Iowa State) was photographed attending frat parties at other schools following his team's games.

Usual frat party behavior ensued -- drinking cheap beer, kissing coeds. They ran pictures on the front page of the Des Moines Register.

My favorite quote from a coed: "He was like, 'What are you doing here? Why aren't you going to KU? The girls down there are much hotter. You belong there,'"

Here's the story: http://espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0428/1546141.html

Petty? So are comments like "What Planet are you from?" You know what, paigow? I don't need you correcting me, and I think it's awfully presumptuous and not very becoming for you to do so.

I am hardly a mysogynist. That would indicate a dislike or hatred of women in general. In general, I like women very much. In particular, you annoy me, more often than not.

If you look up the definition of hag, it says an unattractive woman. Mind you, one. You are a woman, no? Besides, unattractiveness doesn't always have to do with physicality. Some of the most unattractive people I've ever met are objectively physically appealing.

Don't like being called a hag? Sorry. How about this? Fuck you.

P.S. Feel free to place me on your ignore list.

I don't know if this has been posted, but here's a White Stripes article from Slate (no registration!) via msnbc.com:

Excerpt: "The Stripes have been hailed as the earthy, direct, low-tech antidote to computer-generated teen pop and dance music."

ESPN's "Page 2" obtained a copy of the police report. http://espn.go.com/page2/s/kluck/030429.html My favorite entries:

11:23 p.m. Gives kid at the door a few bucks, grabs plastic cup. Remarks that the "music seems louder than it did when we were in college." Notices girl in low-cut jeans with thong sticking out -- promptly forgets about music.

12:00 a.m. Drinks can of Natural Lite Ice.

12:15 a.m. Drinks can of Natural Lite Ice. Thinks briefly about Missouri zone defense. Forgets when kissed on cheek by a girl that looks like that chick from Dawson's Creek.

2:34 a.m. Explains nuances of the fullcourt press to a 19-year-old girl with a major in Business Systems wearing a "Hello Kitty" T-shirt.

I have now been informed that Fischerspooner were quite popular with a small hipster circle in Manhattan about 1.5 to 2 years ago and, consequently, are now has-beens.
That sounds about right.

Question: where is Calverton, NY? This might be wroth checking out, esp in light of my recent comment regarding the state of music today. Also, is Blur the band that sang "Hey man nice shot?" I have a feelnig, not, but cant quite place it.
Blur's big hit is called "Song 2," but it's more popularly known as the "Woo Hoo" song. Shawn Green used that song as his at-bat music for his entire Blue Jay career. It is an all-time great Jock Jam.

Though I seriously doubt paigow's hurt feelings are more than feigned, I have to ask the women of the board --- what's the current feeling on womyn-centric name-calling?

Let's leave aside the c-word, which is unspeakable and a hot-button issue unto itself. But how about "bitch"? Is it sexist and loaded and unfair, or just the feminine-gendered "asshole"? Are there any women who would prefer to be called a "dick"? Or an "asshole" or "prick"? What do we do with women who are cowardly --- can we call such woman "pussies" without it being mistaken for a sexual slur? Let's assume, for the moment, that we won't succeed in stamping out the use of the p-word as applied to men; does it minimize the slight to women to have it apply to them based on an ungendered character flaw?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I've only gotten through the first hour so far. Of course I know from the teasers (no spoiler me) that the footmen are about to get disciplined for something. I hope it's sexual. I think the blonde accountant is cruisin' for a bruisin' next.

I think the 9-year-old is precious. He was so genuine and appreciative of everything, it was great to watch. His interaction with the tutor was hilarious. If he turns into a raging Fauntelroy, don't tell me.

My complaint is that they should have found a family that included an of-age hot chick. The sexual intrigue would have been better if it was inter-class, as opposed to among the staff. Charlie and Rob probably would have gotten a three-way going within two days of Miss ________'s arrival. That older sister chick isn't doing it for me.

BTW, Mr. Edgar is already taking his job a little too seriously. I guess they needed one person who knew what the hell he was doing.

Big Ass and Hurt TITS!

On the entertainment news front: Be on the watch for the new MJ/Bashir-like documentary on JLos upbringing (makes me think about that hilarious south park from a couple weeks back). Bonus: Anna Nicole is addicted to Vicodin (CTD, where are you?) because of back pain caused by her huge fake boobs.

I can feel the waves of liberation from the Stalin board suffused through this post.

Akin to recent events in Baghdad, I have a mental picture of Atticus in his office, beating a toppled and crumpled monitor with his loafers.

Bitch is such a great word, so many connotations. It can be good, bad and ugly. I use "wuss" for both genders instead of the p-word. The p-word is to close to the c-word for my taste. Others that I am particularly offended by are "dyke" and "fag." I don't see the need to include sexual orientation in an insult. You don't go around calling people "straight."

Eerie. Loafers and all. But it's me trying to beat some sense into Bilmore, and he's wearing the Percodan chain-mail again.

BTW, was the mental picture me-as-Kevin-Spacey, or me-as-Martin-Sheen?
