And isnt there an incestuous implication there? I think when I was 21, anyone over 25 was really old. And that is how it shoud be.
I googled and found this article

Spree: Henin met Hardenne, two years her senior, in 1998 when she presented him with a prize at an amateur tennis event. They both say it was love at first sight and began dating soon afterward.

"how it should be?" Stop being so narrow minded. A ten year age difference is just not that unusual.
When I was 19-21, my boyfriend (whom I lived with) was 29-31. He was an ass but that's neither here nor there. Hardly a father figure either (I think my dad was in his 50s back then). I've never been estranged from my dad, and I don't think I have any more issues than anyone else on this board.

An overgeneralization, to be sure.

I dated someone my father's exact age when I was in my mid 20s (he was in his late 40s). A very handsome ceo type. Ultimately, the age difference was too big for him.

The problem is with the older guys, not the way younger women. What the hell is wrong with them that they can't handle a woman their own age? Too experienced (and with a much better basis for comparison) in the sack? Too successful? Too...their own old age?

Wasn't it Mary Pierce, who moved continents to get away from her father?

Anna Smashnova (she of the greatest name for a tennis player ever) married her coach, but the age difference was only about 9 years. 26 & 35.

And Nancy Kerrigan married Jerry Solomon, a sports agent (or whatever) who's much older - 14 years.

Did his daughter run off and join a band of gypsies? Or did he decide he didnt want any more kids, ala Billy Bob and ANgelina (note: estranged from dad)?

OF course it is an overgeneralization, but there is indeed a correlation. Maybe its bc I am from the classic nuclear family with no divorces and parents fairly close in age who have doted upon eachh other for over forty years, but something just really squicks me about a guy going out with someone much younger than him - like he wants to fuck his daughet or younger sister. Or maybe its bc my best friends dad left her mom to bang someone his daugheter's age. Or maybe its bc a close friend from college was banging her sixty year old professor (and she said she loved his salt and pepper hair, all over - ew!)(and she had issues with her dad to be sure) Or maybe I just dont see how a person could be attracted to someone so much older, and thus in idfferent places emotionally and physically.

Why do people care? That's the real question. Young woman - old guy. Old guy - young woman. Fat, rich, old guy - young, poor, hot woman. Rich, old woman - young, poor, hot man. What difference does it make?

Older people like younger people because they're hotter. Younger people are attracted to older people because they either have money or are more mature. There is no "problem." That's just the way it is.

Why does each one of your posts make you sound more and more bitter? Paigow's nuts. What's your excuse?

Whatever you say.

So if a woman who dates someone 10 years older has daddy issues (it's a fact!), a woman that dates someone 10 years younger has younger-brother issues? Nephew issues? And the guy has mommy issues" Is that how it works?

No, she was in that other classic categoy- tennis star who dates closeted gay male athlete (Robby Alomar- engaged for years but nothing). Estranged from dad. Maybe there is a correlation there as well? See also AManda Coetzer and Brady Anderson. How convenient for these guys to date the gals they never have to see.

I was so sad to see Anna Smashnova give up her great surname when she wed. What a waste. And it wasnt her either. Patty Schneyder went out with some guru guy who was like twenty years older and he nearly ruined her career. But it wasnt her I was thinking of. Wonder who ALexandra Stevenson dates. Isnt she estranged from Dr. J?

Hmm. Ashton Kutcher is extremely boyish and Demi does have big boobies. He just might have mommy issues, although she is looking incredibly hot lately. What the attraction is for her, I don't understand, because he is so not hot.
