Dude. eBay.
The (anniversary) US Theatrical version is supposedly still the best, but the directors (collector's) cut is more readily available. The 2-disk scandinavian version has crappy sound & picture transfer, but Argento's "Zombi" cut is supposed to be interesting.
Anchor Bay is going to do a big re-release sometime in 2004 with extras, the Zombi film, more interviews, etc., presumably to capitalize on the remake. Since their US Theatrical version ran for, what, $150, when it was still in print, I expect the new one to cost roughly $789.95, but you may want to wait for it.
edited to add: just discovered that the remake is aiming for a PG-13. I will go home now and throw up. What a fucking waste of time.

Whether intentional or not, I'll agree with you that his Stuart Smalley bit reaches the heights of self-mockery.

It depends on what the meaning of "is" is...
Quote:
Paris Hilton says she never thought the sex video she made with her ex-boyfriend ever would become public.
"I feel embarrassed and humiliated, especially because my parents and the people who love me have been hurt," the socialite and reality TV actress said Monday in a statement to The Associated Press.
"I was in an intimate relationship and never, ever thought that these things would become public."
|
If you go with Paris' definition, one weekend trip to Windsor could be seen as a whole series of "intimate relationships".
Edited to add required link thing
Edited again to add, I take that back, Rick says he and Paris were together for almost a year:
Link to text of Rick Solomon's $10 million slander suit against Paris and family from the Smoking Gun
What exquisite lawyering.
One last edit: What do you know, Solomon's lawyers are the same people (how can a 16 lawyer firm have this much time on their hands?) who are threatening the media over linking Catherine Zeta-Jones with the Atkins Diet

Not as good as this:
Quote:
The company, in turn, filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Salomon's former roommate for more than $10 million. It alleges that Donald Thrasher of Los Angeles misled the company into believing he owned the rights to the video.
|
The plaintiff's depos on reasonable reliance will be exquisite. "So I says to myself, self, ya got a video with a rich heiress taking it from behind. Ya gotta do some due diligence. So naturally I call Paris Hilton and say, 'Hey, I've got this video of you sucking some guy's dong. Can you fax a copy of the release?' Turns out, I was talking to the Paris Hilton. As in, the hotel. Fucking phone company; what can you do? There must be some red faces at the reception desk there in Paris. But shame on them for faxing a phony release, upon which I relied and which I have subsequently lost. Sad story there, with which I won't bore you."

If it exists, what do you want to bet that the Master License was written in drunk on the back of a bar napkin?
Life would be much less interesting without the smoking gun website.

Adult Video release
I see that Solomon's roommate acknowledged in the release that Solomon retained the right to publicly perform (the content of) the video. Next time I'm publicly giving it to Paris Hilton from the back, now I need to worry about infringing Richard Solomon's performance right. As if performance anxiety wasn't going to be enough of a problem.

Denzel does Scott Glenn
Denzel to star in a remake of an 80's flick where Scott Glenn plays a hardboiled bodyguard / merc link
Everybody's displaced Dominican has a few choice quotes from the flick:
Quote:
CREASY[Denzel]
Can your hear me?
The tape is gone from his mouth but Fossella just nods.
Creasy holds up a metal cylinder. He unscrews it in the
middle and shows Fossella the two hollow halves.
CREASY
This is a charger. It's used by
convicts to conceal money and drugs.
It's hidden inside the body. In the rectum.
Fossella sits in the chair, reacts to the discomfort he's
feeling. Creasy raises his eyebrows. Yes, that's right.
Creasy does his show and tell. Holds up some plastique,
along with several other items.
CREASY
This is a high explosive. This is a
detonator. This is a timer. Put it
together and you have a bomb.
Very small, but very powerful. That's
what you're feeling up your ass right now.
Fossella shifts again, feels it again.
CREASY
It's timed to blow up at ten o'clock.

Go, Denzel. I no longer think he's a black Tom Hanks.

just have some friends hiding in the closet and make jokes-remember the satire exception. plus if you can get done quick you might be able to argue de minimus infringement.
plus, no offense to the guy, but serious originality questions IYKWIM.
good luck!
