It's too bad that Sharpton or Jesse J or some of the other pillars of righteousness in the current morality play have never advised Ms. Brawley about the importance of accepting responsibility for one's bad acts and seeking foregiveness through words of apology and acts of contrition within the community. Even if she were to pay Pagones $5 a week for the rest of her life, while never satisfying the judgment (plus accrued interest), it might cause her, every time she writes out that check, to think of the damage she caused and why defamation, hatred and racism are bad things.
