That's what I meant when I called Maher amoral.

And in this way, he and Coulter are the same. I think Coulter is pretty much a joke hack and everything she says is calculated to drive attention in order to keep her relevant to sell her product. She's actually very good at it and has big balls to say the things she does without apology, but there is very little substance coming from her these days.

C'mon, club. That's hardly a nice thing to say about your girl.

Not to say that they wouldnt' be interesting together; I just don't see the left/right divide here.

He is very pro-Bush and pro-Republican. He thoroughly supports the war and questions global warming. Ever since 9-11 he has been a staunch administration supporter. He is often a guest on Bill O'Reillys show (Miller time) to mock liberals.
He used to be more liberal than me but now he is more conservative.

He hates Bush, hates the war, and he is an environementalist. Of course the two of them are not steorotypical, and it is hard to classify them, but I see Maher as a pretty conservative Democrat and Dennis Miller as a liberal Republican.
I just think they could ridicule well anyone that came on. To compare them to Jon Stewart ( or Colbert) it not a good comparison because Stewart and Colbert are going directly for laughts. MIller and Maher go for laughs but they are always trying to make a political point.
So I think there should would be funny, but a lot more serious than the Daily show.

I think he's very, very upset that some guy blogged about fucking her in the ass. He thought he would be special when he achieved her ass.

Indeed:

He's an ugly little Camus for pop television.

Camus? More like Less with a bigger ego and a bigger audience.

Spewing insults and outrageous attacks (i.e., calling everyone you don't like a "front for terrorists") isn't really very hard. Doing that without apology doesn't take "big balls."
It takes being an asshole. And maybe having a sense that being an asshole (especially one with tits) drives your ratings up and ensures that your base supporters will all buy your next book.
Admiring Coulter for the "balls" it takes for her to call Edwards a "faggot" and his campaign a terrorist front, and then to say that she's laughing about it later, is sort of like admiring Jenna Jameson for the incredible courage it takes to get naked and gang-fucked on screen.
Though I'd watch Jenna over Ann any day, and twice on Sundays.

Stewart goes for laughs too. The difference is that he's funny. And smart.
Maher and Miller cannot be serious and interesting. And they can't be particularly funny, either. Both of them inevitably end up having to chuckle at their own jokes during the course of a show, because no one else is laughing.
I can say this with confidence having seen each of them maybe twice (more for Miller if you count SNL).

Sidd, you really need to switch to decaf.
