Isn't it ironic?
Belle Waring talks to Sebby.

Nice try, lawyer boy, but you can't convince me by citing to a single blogger who is clearly not representative of The Left.

Talk is Cheap
Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari in January 2007, speaking in favor of Bush's plan calling for 20K more troops to Iraq:
"Additional troops are needed, indeed, because Baghdad has become the battleground for all the terrorist insurgents."
But yesterday, Zebari was quoted as saying the U.S. made the mistake of having its "liberating forces" become "occupation forces." They want gazillions of our troops, they want the troops to protect the Iraqis and to fight for them (and teach them, etc.), so what exactly do they want the U.S. to stop doing so we aren't "occupying" them anymore? I think this guy is full of shit.

If you took the time to find that, I am truly disturbed.
You didn't need to, BTW. I already said your argument in that regard had some merit, but that the evidence supporting it was probably de minimus. Offering that blog as your presumably best evidence seems to bear that out.

I read Crooked Timber regularly. They rock. Like John Quiggan -- Penske's a fan. And especially Belle Waring. A friend met her in Singapore not long ago and I'm envious.

So many links. It's confusing.
Or I'm just simple.

We established this with the simplistic left/right dichotomy yesterday.
I think folks who proclaim themselves in the center generally suffer from some degree of simplicity, often combined with indecisiveness, apathy, a lack of attention span and poor nutrition.

Congrats. I've never read a more internally contradictory post on these boards. Including my own.
ETA: BTW, Michael Kinsley wrote a senseless piece a while back actually claiming rabid partisanship and ideology was a good thing which should be nurtured. I'm happy to see he's losing less and less influence as a columnist/pundit these days. I'm for halping the challenged, but there's a limit to the scope of audience they should enjoy.

Iraq - Love It Or Leave It
If all these Iraqi protesters are so fucking ungrateful , maybe they should all just move to Canada like the flag-burning, pot-smoking hippies they are.

I don't support bush on this topic, but a bill described as: - The bill Bush opposes, sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record), D-Nev., would lift the president's 2001 ban on federal funding for any new embryonic stem cell studies.
was brought up solely for political benefit. Harry Reid sponsoring a bill to "lift" something the President put in place is a move calculated to make you angry, not a move intended to get a ban lifted.

Why did W initiate the ban in the first place?
