I dunno, Sebby. If I had the luxury of picking and choosing my clients and cases, and didn't have to worry about billing and collecting, I might still do a little law after becoming a gazillionaire.
I've had a few cases that I just loved, and there are few things as satisfying as beating someone in court who deserves to lose. (Of course, it sucks to lose when you deserve to win, but life is Not Fair -- and I tend not to complain too much, since I've won a few I've deserved to lose.)
John Grisham doesn't need to do any lawyerin', and I'm guessing that people like Peter Angelos, Willie Gary, and David Boies don't need to, either. Yet they do. Dennis Block and Joe Flom (he's still alive, right?) could probably quit, too, unless they are locked into expensive stuff like ex-wives, polo ponies, and mansions in Rye.

Flom owns race horses. Not sure how much work he does. Grisham needs to practice law because it's where he gets his plots. Though I'm not sure he bothers with those pesky client things.

I would probably do consulting rather than actual lawyering.

isn't that what explains things like the death penalty institutes and the institute for justice (and various other similar groups)?

Or I might work with some of those people. On and off. I wouldn't go to court, though.

That I might do. But I'd probably like that, so it would not be law as I know it.
If I hit serious (20-30 mil bucks) I'd also give away as much as I reasonably could. No use in living like a rock star if all your friends can't.
I'd start by buying a vacation home on the beach with servants and a yacht for all my friends. They'd get a key and could use it whenever they liked. That way, whenever I was bored, I'd know where ot find a party. Or my recently thrown out of the home friends.

I'd keep the old lady. You can't buy somebody giving a real shit about you, and no matter how hot the random ass you're screwing is, every high gets old after a while.

Please don't use me as a jumping-off point. It confuses and upsets me.
And I'd like to keep my fantasy that I can buy somebody giving a real shit about me, thank you very much. And not just someone on death row.

2, plus some volunteer legal stuff. So long as it's understood that the lawyer may fly off to Bali for a month or two if the mood strikes.

Hello
I'm certain there is something political in this, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Nonsense. That's exactly what Piggly-Wiggly gets from me. And, at my standard hourly rate, I'd not only give a real shit about you, but you'd even get a Generic Winter Gift Giving Holiday card every year from me. And I pay for lunch.

I'd do something similar. My I-just-won-the-powerball fantasy involves flying all of my friends to a resort in Costa Rica that I'd taken over for a month, sitting them down with my new best friend banker and having all debt extinguished.
I'd have a few houses around the world for them to crash in when the mood strikes. I'd also give them access to my travel agent, so getting to me isn't a pain in the ass for them.
