LOS ANGELES - Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Andy Garcia and Hugh Grant will be among dozens of celebrities joining in an NBC Universal TV benefit for tsunami relief.
Other stars announced Thursday for the benefit include Lucy Liu, Josh Groban, Jay Leno, Natalie Portman, Nicolette Sheridan (it appears that she will do anything for publicity) and Naomi Watts.
Stevie Wonder, Meg Ryan, Clint Eastwood, Mary J. Blige and George Clooney were among previously announced participants.
Sony’s Connect music store will offer downloads of live performances from the concert, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
SBC Communications is underwriting the two-hour, commercial-free benefit.

I don't understand these actor laden star studded benefits*. Concerts featuring various bands performing? Fine. A play performance or movie showing with all the proceeds going to a charity? Fine. But listening to a bunch of over paid beautiful people who live in a dream world surrounded by yes men and other assorted hangers on, imploring me (who makes less in a year then they spend in a month on limos, plastic surgery, and their drugs of choice) really irritates me. Why don't they get off their dermabrased (sp?) asses and contribute some of their own hard cold cash to the effort. I bet they'll get really cool gift bags for participating too. Bastards! I wanna be an Oscar presenter just for the gift bag.
As a final note, is Steveie Wonder the only one performing? Will it be two songs by Stevie and 1 hour 50 minutes of horrible speeches?
Thank goodness I have Netflix to watch.
