I was talking to the wine guy (I've no time to look up the spelling of the s. word) at a fine restaurant near here, and he tells me the pinot sales are way up and merlot very very down. It is a shame if the guy didn't get product placement $$$ from the Pinot growers.

Them's fightin' words in my little corner of the patch. The pinot patch, thank you very much.
Yeah, it's no wonder Burgundy's got such a shitty reputation.

Maybe he did and they passed. "I've got this guy, see, he's a balding, middle-aged loser who steals money from his mom, a pedantic wine freak who can't hold his liquor, and he sells out his only friend in the sad hope of getting laid on a regular basis for the first time in years. His drink of choice? Pinot Noir! Whaddaya say?"

Listen, newber, don't make me skool you on proper netiquette. I suggest you go back to lurking for a bit. An internet-style chatting board is like a cocktail party. Or a Dungeons & Dragons game. You just don't go jumping in like that.

My friends* tell me that sales of merlot have suffered since the movie came out.
* By "my friends" I mean Hank.
eta: I could add "STP" here, but we all know that I posted this just to establish that Hank told me something by PM before he posted it on the board. Woo hoo!

Information about getting non-group health insurance coverage (yeah, I know, the biglaw people don't need it, but self-employed might, family members might, friends might . . .) -- state-by-state publications from Georgetown, not marketing crap.

Paul Giamatti's visit to TDS earlier this week included the admission that he personally knows jack shit about wine, so we can safely assume that the window for product endorsements just slammed shut.

Unless its turpentine, it all tastes the same after the fourth glass.
And let me remind you, I happen to have an opinion about wine.

And you don't like Napa, you say? Shocking.

Don't be cranky. Every day is Ollie Day as far as I'm concerned.
But perhaps you don't fully understand my nuanced and elaborate rating system for wines:
Things I Like: Great
Things I Don't Like: Sucks
YMMV, as the cool kids say.
