The reason I think TM may be moonlighting is that in a scene where the Ben Stiller character is trying to put the moves on the girl, she kind of "burps" and says, "I just threw up in my mouth a little bit". Of course, the pathetic thing is that I thought, "Hmmm. I wonder why she didn't just say, 'I just TUIMMALB.'"
Glad to have you thinking about me (outside of your dreams), but I didn't make that up. I read it somewhere else. I did invent the abbreviation, though.

And that is just adorable.

Observation: ever since I have become single, my social calendar has been full - the fullest it's been since I don't know when. I attribute it all to haphazard feng shui.

Uh huh. That'll nix your candidacy n the bud, bud.

SS, I like your handy rule of thumb.

Please take over the editing of the FB Betty Seduction Etiquette Gide, (c) 1999. If you would, please no subliminal messages of Lizard Spawn or World Domination. It didn't work in Devouring Your Essence, or Mere Subjugation?: A One Lizard Play when you had me peddle it to UPN, and it won't work here, either.

I've noticed that since I have become single (almost final!!!!!) I feel sort of slutty being on birth control.

I have always loved Kate Winslet (with the exception of Titanic, of course), and she didn't disappoint; and even Jim Carrey (that spelling doesn't look right...), whom I ordinarily cannot stomach when he's playing "serious" roles, was endearing.
I take it you're talking about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...

I try and I try and I just can't get into Charlie Kaufman's (I think that is his name) flicks. I thought Adaptation was "eh". And Being John Malkovich (not sure this is a Kaufman movie), which is similar, did little for me. This bothers me because people discuss these movies around me, particularly how profound ESSM was, and I feel like I'm missing some section of my brain. I understand them, but I just can't get into them. I want to... I really want to. is there an exercise that could help me along?

And this is different how?

I stayed on birth control while single (during my big 3 month dry spell), but mainly because I like being able to schedule things out. Or, put differently, I hate surprises.

Survivor Finale

Did anyone watch this last night. Based on who won, it sounds like the last show went fairly predictably, so now I'm trying to decide if it is worth watching my Tivoed copy.

Generally, I agree with you, though I did rather like Being John Malkovich, largely because I think John Malkovich was amazing.

However, this page, on a movie site someone linked to a week or two ago (top gun as homosexual metaphore), gives a pretty amusing overly-intellectualized reading of BJM:

Well, you could have a sex-change operation (assuming Barely's theory is correct -- and almost everyone will agree that it is mostly so).

But seriously, I'm not sure that there's anything to "get" -- it just resonates with some people, and not with others -- like any other art form. I mean, the "blurb" on the TV (you know, when you hit the "info" button on your remote?) said something about its being a "mind-bender", which I really didn't see. I mean, the whole time-space continuum manipulation isn't all that novel; but for whatever reason, the characters' emotions felt real to me and had sympathy for their despair, longing and confusion. Maybe [WARNING -- GROSS GENERALIZATION FAST APPROACHING] the themes of loss and "what might have been" with respect to relationships resonate more deeply with those of us with a Y chromosome.

Have not seen Eternal Sunshine and have no desire to - also didn't see Being John Malkovich and have no desire to (he drives me crazy, so I wouldn't want to see a movie about being him). I did see Adaptation and felt curiously detached during the whole movie. I don't see what the big deal is either. Perhaps peyote would help?

It might be a tumor...

Ever wonder what a 66 lbs. tumor looks like? Here you go.

spree: News story. Gross, but not necessarily inappropriate.
