The US applied economic pressure to the USSR, causing them to change their laws. The countries that had been economically intertwined with the South before the Civil War helped determine the outcome of that war by foregoing trade with the South in lieu of actively evading or otherwise dealing with Northern blockades.
I'm not saying that Reagan was at all inconsequential to the fall of the USSR. I'm just saying that your Lincoln analogy is inapposite.

oh Fringe, you're wrong.
Gorbachev = Jeff Davis

No, I don't think so. I think Jefferson Davis went down fighting, never admitting that the South's system was inherently flawed.

Because Reagan was a Republican and Gorby was a communist.

Nope. you'd have to read Mrs. Davis' memiors to know if he went down or not, but he surrendered, for sure.

I made a pact with myself when I heard the news on Saturday that I was not going to argue this point on this boards with anybody that hadn't read the thousands of pages I have on the topic. So, unless you can vouch for, oh let's say 1,000 pages, I refuse to engage.

Please use the available acronym for this sentiment: "IIAB/CYLL."
Moreover, based on the above page standard, I suggest the Right Side of this board SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT ISLAM. If I had known about the 1,000 page requirement sooner, I could have saved you a lot of time.

I read the Koran. Filthy fucking book espousing hate toward woman and the theories of a pedophile/polygamist.
You shut the fuck up if you sympathize with those misogynists. Rot in hell* asshole.
* Ok, so there isn't a hell, but figuratively speaking, KWIM?

Nice. I've never said a word to my recollection. So, while we are on the topic, I wish the Left Side of this board would SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT SOCIETY'S NEED TO EMBRACE CHILD MOLESTORS.
Oh yeah, and THE NEED TO CELEBRATE THE POSITIVE MORALITY OF CRIMINALS
He(headed your first response right off at the pass with that last one, eh?)llo

Wow, self-pact. Those are the most serious kind. But I understand the need for extensive homework before coming here, to this temple of enlightened discourse and engaging in a reasoned debate about whose hoo-ha is dragging a big fat ass after it.
