Pass the collection plate and vote Bush!

Friends,
Sometime in July, your friend Fred -- who sits a few pews back from you on Sunday -- will start inviting you to potluck dinners to talk about Bush/Cheney. That same month, you'll probably see a voter registration drive on Sunday, though I'm sure for appearances' sake it'll be held outside the sanctuary.
Later into the fall you should start receiving Voter Guides. No word yet on whether they'll be provided inside the programs, or just outside of it. In any event, you'd better make sure you're registered by September 26, because that's when the Bush-Cheney campaign is making a deadline for all churchgoers to vote.
Enjoy the service!

I know the Dems are working churches in Detroit. We're supposed to leave this to you guys? We left you all the convicts.

They did find the body.
And DeWine's former sex-staffer apparently got a $300k advance. Out earning the old boss (well, I suppose she was on an hourly basis already).

I don't approve of either party doing this. I want to get through the service without being bothered with politics, and having my sleeep interrupted.

Interesting how the Wahhabi Repubs think that it's okay expressly to compare Clinton to Saddam, but start screaming "Traitor!!!" when their overactive imaginations lead them to conclude that anyone is comparing Bush to Saddam.
Of course, if I was a Repub confronting the facts of the Clinton economic expansion and budget surplus and the fact that Clinton built the greatest military in world history, I guess half-assed "separated at birth" type pictures would be the only thing I'd have to say too.
Alternately, we could talk about how Clinton was brave enough to say that gay people should be allowed to serve in the military (a position he had to severely compromise due to Repub opposition) while Bush has been advocating to write discrimination against gay people into the US consitution. Tell me, which of those would Saddam support?

Hank, you've been around here long enough to know it's different if we do it.
Besides, the Dems are smart enough to not leave behind a paper trail.

I'm a little concerned about club.
Usually he's come by before now to tell us about the jobs report. Hope nothing happened to him.

The reported job growth was only half the estimates, so he's probably a bit depressed.

I blame Kerry. Businesses are concerned that he'll win, and have retrenched on hiring in anticipation.

Sorry, I thought I had already posted this. A bit hung this morning and haven't been able to shake the cobwebs yet.

The Labor Department (news - web sites) earlier reported that 112,000 jobs were created last month, less than half the 250,000 that Wall Street analysts forecast. The figure, which sent tremors through financial markets, still meant a 10th straight month in which payrolls grew.

Onion-esque
You seriously cannot make stuff like this up:
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Several members of the House of Representatives have requested the United Nations to send observers to monitor the November 2 US presidential election to avoid a contentious vote like in 2000, when the outcome was decided by Florida.
Recalling the long, drawn out process in the southern state, nine lawmakers, including four blacks and one Hispanic, sent a letter Thursday to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan asking that the international body "ensure free and fair elections in America," according to a statement issued by Florida representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, who spearheaded the effort.
"As lawmakers, we must assure the people of America that our nation will not experience the nightmare of the 2000 presidential election," she said in the letter.

This explains why no one got my "and she stepped on the ball" joke a few weeks back.

I googled, and came up with this: "http://llamafest.com/photos/1995.htm"
I did step on the ball once when playing field hockey, but that's a whole other story. Perhaps more appropriate for the sports board.
