So much for the concept of Not Bob as "value-added." Sic transit gloria mundi, etc.

I think that when we talked about the Franken thing, I said something about the Heckler's Veto.
Speaking of which, I think you owe me a beer for this bet.
Burger, what part of the First Amendment don't you understand?

Someone explain why we have all of those terror threat levels if we don't use them?

Eh. I agree that a nationwide terror threat index is useless if you live in a target-rich environment like NYC or DC or a place that's hosting a special event. But I think it's more generally useless than that.
I was going to say I stopped looking at the kooky-kolor-koordinated bullshit, but I never really started. I get enough useless information about potential attacks on the subways, ferrys, ballparks and every other landmark on a weekly basis. This is not to say I don't expect an attack - I am surprised there haven't been more given how easy it would be to walk into any train station at rush hour with a hockey bag full of semtex. I just figure I won't be able to do much about it when it happens.
The "terror alert" system serves one purpose - to keep the general population terrorized. It's been a smashing success in that sense.

Sorry. You lose. My stance is bipartisan.
How much for you? $500? $1000? You have your price. Drop the "but I'm not a hooker" gig though or it's down to $250.

Sorry hun but you can't afford me. You can't even afford to eat out. Anyhow, I am taken. BTW - the fact that I expect my husband to pay for everything doesn't mean I don't love him. It is just one of the reasons I do love him.

It wasn't a campaign event, and it was paid for with federal and state money. Moreover, the ticket conditions didn't say anything about what shirts you can wear.
eta: Sorry -- too quick on the trigger.

I think he understands that part about "state action." The first amendment doesn't allow you to stay in a private event if the owenr's of the building or those who are renting the building ask you to leave. If I wear a t-shirt to the mall and the mall owners don't like what my t-shirt says and they ask me to leave and I don't, the first amendment doesn't protect me. Get it now?

I'll gladly buy you that Chimay all the more since you now deem my repeated recollections of Al's outbursts as "media attention"

Either read the article, read the posts about the article, or just shut up and show us your fake tits. "The event was paid for with state and federal funds." It was not a private event.
Get it now? (I typed extra slow just to help you out.)

I don't have a heart of gold. My hubby is extremely intelligent, makes me laugh and has a hot body. And he pays for me. What's not to love about a guy like that?

Busted.
Time-place-manner restrictions. Why is it unreasonable to assume that persons who are wearing such t-shirts are a) likely to be protesters and b) likely to disrupt the event particularly in light of their refusal to leave when asked by authorities to do so? Should they have first been asked to remove their t-shirts?
Do you like to joke about bombs in the xray line at the airport?

Iraq insurrection Big? Bigger? Biggest? Biggestester?
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...q_insurgency_2
Interesting article on Yahoo about the size of the insurrection and how its being fought. If this is accurate, then I'm about ready for Americans to leave too. If its just nationalism, then it sounds sorta like what I'd hope a lot of Americans would do if the roles were reversed. Well, and if the Iraqis were dragging their feet on allowing us to have elections etc....
Regarding how to fight an insurgency, please note the penultimate paragraph. You heard that thinking here first. 9 months ago. You wanna track people? Make em carry id cards and build giant databases.
Hello
