Are you implying that you are over it?

As the county prosecutor made clear, now that you're out on parole, my family has to be over it. Distinguish the ongoing civil suit to collect fees owed from you.
Anybody have a good fried okra recipe? Is fresh okra the key?

No ketchup.

I think it's supposed to have black olives and guacamole, and it's called seven-layer dip. Geez.

And I can't quite figure out where the white trash comes in? Wouldn't it have to have ketchup or Miracle Whip or canned chili or something like that to qualify?
I think someone brought 7-layer dip to my Halloween party.

Yeah, I don't think of it as white trashy. But hey, I'm not classy.

Fried okra should be made with fresh okra. It's simple: slice the pods width-wise, toss in cornmeal seasoned with salt and pepper. Fry/saute in oil until browned and crispy, stirring when needed. Serve immediately.

The presence of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken) in any recipe puts it in the category of white trash comfort food. Before I discovered yuppie recipe books, I could make numerous hotdishes (what Minnesotans call "casseroles") with cream of mushroom soup.

Rice casserole: (a guess at the recipie since my confirming sources aren't answering their phones)
1 can of Campbell's Beef Consomme
1 can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom
1 package of Lipton's Golden Onion soup.
2 cups of rice.
1/2 cup of butter
Mix everything above in casserole dish and put (covered) into oven at 350 until done. Not in any way good for you.

Mmmm. Tuna noodle casserole. With French's fried onions on top.
My ex hated it. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed it. Time to ressurect it.

white trash, but not very comforting

If you can spring for black olives and guacamole, it's not really white trash dip, is it?

Nice try. But no dice. It's for celebrations -- splurges. That packaged guac is not really more expensive than sour cream.

If the resipe involves both meat and orange soda, you're comfortably in white trash territory.

I was taught as a white trash child to make sweet and sour anything by mixing equal parts of ketchup and ginger ale and cooking the anything (usually chicken but sometimes meatballs) in the ketchup/ginger ale mixture. Adding raisins or pineapple chunks at the end fancies it up.
I will confess that I still make this when I crave comfort food.

We have a winner.
Darlin', ain't nobody touchin' your white trash cred.
Damn. Ketchup and ginger ale. I was sure that that particular mixture (which I have "enjoyed" once in my life) was constrained to the back woods of Western Kentucky where I apparently have some distant relatives. I guess not. Do you have a trailer in which to make this concoction? I've always thought it would spontaneously explode if made in a home with an actual foundation.

Would Jews use orange cream soda with meat?
