Afterwards, there's a barbeque at the local rifle hall with music and a biergarten and something called a Battle Dance. I suspect an accordian is involved.
So I'll eat, drink and be merry. And maybe set off some fireworks later on tomorrow night if it doesn't look like I'll burn anything down.
And the next day, I'll be back here, at work, wondering why the hell I didn't take the rest of the week off.
What're ya'll doing?

I'll be riding beach cruisers in the South Bay and cooking out with friends who live on Redondo Beach, then watching fireworks from their roof (unless all fireworks are suddenly banned in this area because of the record-breaking drought we're having) and passing out in their guest room.
Then Thursday I'll be gambling at Pechanga, trying to win some retirement money. And the rest of the long weekend/vacation I'll be doing my best impression of someone who has nothing that she has to do. That likely involves time spent lolling about Santa Monica and/or Venice.
Then Monday I will cry and then return to work.

I'm planning to win the lottery over the weekend, which should eliminate that last step.

Similar, except that we'll be grilling at home and then headed down the hill to Redondo or Malaga Cove to watch the fireworks from the beach.
If you see us passing by underneath your rooftop perch together with the masses of humanity, try not to throw anything.

I'm going to a pot luck picnic at the country church my parents grew up in. I haven't been to it for years but an uncle from CA and two cousins from Seattle are coming for a weekend family reunion and memorial service for another uncle.
My little 'burb has an evening concert and fireworks show walking distance from the Manor.

I'm going to the town where I grew up, which used to be a small town. We'll go to the Jamboree at a local church. They have chicken barbeque, hamburgers, birch beer, cotton candy, ice cream sundaes and the like. They also have the local Coronet band play, a parade around the village common with antique cars and firetrucks, decorated bikes, "floats" made from hay carts pulled by tractors, and the odd horse or llama. There's a cake walk and two of the fire departments have a "water polo" match, which consists of pushing around a decorated beer keg with the power of the fire hoses.
Then, since it's also my mother's birthday, we'll have a lobster and steak dinner with chocolate cake, that I'm about to go make.
Happy Independence Day.

1. Make a budget.
2. Pay off debts.
3. Save.
4. Quit.
Or you can do plaintiff's work. And you can alternate between making 500k 1 year and 40k the next.

I'm at a client's in Waterloo working on a complaint. Real lawyers don't let holidays stop the billing. find a country where it's not a holiday and keep the clock running!

I thought you were a partner by now, given your advanced age, but a real partner would have his lapdog associates working today while he sipped on some gin and juice and lit off m80s on the lawn of his estate.

How much are you willing to sacrifice?
I ask this honestly, because, in any other field, you will be starting at entry level or even a little bit behind the ball, because you will be fighting the assumption that you will eventually get tired of being poor and go back to the law.
Assuming you can live on $16-20,000 a year, what was your college major? Can you translate your writing ability into journalism? Do you think you can do sales? How are your computer skills?
Pick uo the want ads and look for jobs that don't require experience. Apply cold for kobs that interest you where you can build a strong case for a smooth transition.
And, unless you plan on using it to give lessons, sell the big piano. You're going to need the money.

It's a fairly high-demand job as sale gigs go. Given that, if you have a science background or significant sales experience, you have a much better chance of landing a gig.

You're a perfect example of taking a set of legal skills and translating that to an area where the same specialized knowledge is valuable.
ABBA does insurance litigation, if I remember correctly. Both Bilmore and Rimjob moved into insurance companies from that area. They're also both in the Twin Cities. Maybe they could offer some guidance?
