That's a creepy story. But a really adorable cat. Perfect face on that animal.

good goal to go out on your terms. I worry if I will make before they fully destroy me first. it's a frickin dog eat dog world in law and all over the shit table scraps that the real power brokers toss at us. I need more than xanax at this point.

I hate to sound trite but what about a hedge fund or investment bank if that is the area of law you do? that seems to be the epicenter of money right now.

I'm the last to advise anyone----but based on what i've seen I've seen a revolving door of associates go into various situations at varying levels of happiness.

I haven't said fuck all about her in years, yet she keeps saying crap like that. Is it ironic or stupid that she shows she is unjustifiably angry to make the point thst she is not your unjustifiably angry friend?

Happily enough, I have no experience with depression or the doctors that appear with it. I just thought that maybe the poor romantic pair was a symptom, not the cause.

eta: Married for seven years is a little different.

I think it may be a symptom of some stuff, and has now become the cause of other things. It's like a self-perpetuating thing, or whatever.

I am fine with, and in fact on the whole happy with, doctors who treat depression, and sebby may go suck it. But then, maybe he would have liked me better the other way. Hmmmm. I didn't.

So I was out with my successor from my old job Tues night and she is having problems with the two reports she has (who, obviously, used to report to me). They just emailed me saying that they were just commenting on how much they miss me (and am I available for lunch). Connection? How funny.

Yes, I am THAT AWESOME that all of them want to hang out with me me me me me. Or the prior workplace is fucked up and puts the wrong people in positions.

Goats go to hell?

Apparently, even the sheep are in on the "oral isn't sex" thing these days. I wonder if the 4H'ers explained Thurgreed's tips to the sheep.

I totally see that as credible, that you were a better boss and they connected better w/you and can't relate as well to her....and that both sides however, both connected with you and seek from you advice.

go fringey!

So, a friend of mine is really deeply angry, like all the time, lately and honestly I think the root root root basic down-deep cause is that her romantic partner is an ass and an albatross around her neck and a jerk. It's distressing being around her because she's just angry at the world, particularly at any kind of authority figure. I totally can't tell her what I think, can I? I think she is aware that I don't particularly like him.

ETA I thought you, Mr. Formerly Permanently Angry, might have insight.
someone needs to quote this, because fringey put me on ignore and no one else answered her actual question.

If she is a long term frined you can tell her she seems pissed off all the time, and that isn't like her, and ask if there is some problem. she may tell you it's hubbie, or she may not tell you anything, or she may tell you it's something else. if it is hubbie I think you need to be careful bringing up any "dump him" advice. that is a friend loser. but you can agree and counsel her when she complains about him.

She is aware that she is angry all the time, and she is seeing a therapist as of a couple weeks ago. She has discussed the anger thing with me but attributes it to things that make no sense (to me) and she complains about/is angry about things that are not, to me, rational things to get that bent out of shape about -- which I have ventured, mildly, but that does NOT go over well.
