The earlier couple -- they got married around 1995 -- just gave information about the specific charities on a separate insert card with the invitation.
There's also www.idofoundation.org, which has both a charity registry option and a registry where the associated stores will donate an amount equal to 8% of the gift purchases to the charities that the couple identifies.

I have been requested to donate to charity in lieu of gifts once. The wedding was between two people in their late 40s/early 50s (second marriage for one). One is a partner at a big law firm, the other is a finance executive. So they both have piles of money and no need for toasters, china or other crap like that. I thought it was pretty smart choice for people in their circumstances.

I haven't read the new Tina Brown book but I read an interview she recently gave in connection to its publication. She said she looked into the rumors and determined that they are unfounded. She said that William looks like the Windsors and Harry looks like the Spences. It's mildly surprising to me (to the extent that I care) that Harry turned out to be better looking than William. I suppose this can be explained by the greater resemblance to the horsey-looking relatives.

And surprising, considering at that age they still had the lack of sense to get hitched.

Harry better looking? I beg to differ.
(Not that either of them particularly do anything for me, but William has much more classic good looks. Screwed up gene pool and all.)

I would like to get hitched again (at some undetermined point). At the very least, it will save me from becoming an aged, grapefruit-titted cougar. I think that shows some sense.

So once a week, I wipe down everything with one of those Clorox disinfecting wipes. Am I harming the environment or creating superbugs by doing this? Note that Clorox disinfecting wipes do not contain triclosan. Thanks in advance.

BTW, Happy Canada Day (statutory)!

Who are the idiots paying anything more than a few dollars over retail on eBay? People who really don't want to drive to a local store?
