They hold much, much more now than they used to.

The phone has worked great for me, but I've only had it for two days. The sound using the earphones is great and you can talk without having to hold up the little piece on the cord like so many idiots tend to do. And the screen shuts off when you have it near your face while on the phone, which is cool.

I'm actually surprised at how good the service has been because everyone has said AT&T/Cingular sucks, but I get more bars at home and at work than I did with my Verizon phone. I'll keep you updated on network suckitude as I get more of a chance to check it out.

I had a question about bringing over my phone number and if I could do it using iTunes (didn't want to go through sign up stuff without knowing whether I would have to call separately to transfer my line). I mistakenly called the general AT&T customer service line and the woman (who had an attitude -- no doubt from fielding iphone calls all day) said they have a whole different number for iphone customer service and she transferred me to someone who was helpful.

Apple Care (or whatever it's called) will be available "sometime soon."

Easy as pie. Buy the phone. Plug into your computer. It opens iTunes for the sign up process. You select the service you want (I got $59.99/mo for unlimited internet and 200 texts, but you can pay an extra $10 for 1,500 texts), enter the phone number you're transferring and account number for the last phone company you were with and you're done. It took 3 minutes.

Software updates will be sent to your computer just like with any other Apple product and will be synched to your phone when necessary. You can pick playlists for it to sync to or just have it update based on all your songs. I just put on a playlist for my iphone, but I could have just added any of the playlists I already have. You can have it sync to the shows (if you download that stuff) you've downloaded but haven't yet watched. It works beautifully with iTunes.

Good point. I dunno. I only have an iShuffle. But I think they drop the prices of their computers, no? Didn't this iMac:

get cheaper when this one:

came out?

iPaid $400 for a 15GB iPod iN 2004. The most expensive iPod iS now $349, for video and 80GB.

I'm not sure about the rationale in the Prius, but the thought behind that in some Toyota products is that it means one less dashboard piece for left-hand and right-hand drive cars.

That's not what I meant. I meant for the same memory.

To their credit, Mac never designed a keyboard with a touchpad smack in the middle for equally cumbersome access by right- and left-handers alike.

eta: This was a stupid example. Sorry.

See my example. If your question is "Does Apple ever drop the price on the identical product" the answer to that seems to be "infrequently". They more often update the product with more memory/features and keep the price the same. Or sometimes they even drop the price, as with computers. Then the older version becomes much cheaper in their refurb store.

So, if one were to guess on the iPhone, chances are the prices will stay the same until they update it in some way, at which point you'll get more memory for the same price or perhaps more memory for a lower price.

It really is a great product. Everything is seamless and intuitive. It's sleek, small, light, easy to use and beautiful. I have very few complaints. The internet is very slow if you're not in a wifi spot, but if you are, it's awesome. Email is easy and great, although it doesn't come in in real time (but we know they'll fix that and put blackberry out of business). Typing on the screen takes some getting used to, but once you trust their correction software, you can just type away and not worry about it. The camera works well. The ipod is better than any ipod on the market. I watched a movie on it and the definition is great. I put a bunch of photos on it and scrolling through them is lots of fun. The thing really has very few weaknesses and I can't imagine that, once the price drops, people won't replace their phone the first opportunity they get.

I played with one over the weekend. The owner's two main complaints were that it doesn't record video and you can't swap out the battery for a fresh one.

My helpful hint for purchasers of Apple products: If you or anyone you're close to works for a school or other educational institution, check out their Apple store. Some things, like the iPhone, aren't going to be any cheaper, but some of their iPods and all of their computers are usually about ten percent or so cheaper than buying straight from the Apple store.

It is also difficult to attach to my shoe for taking photos.

And I have it on good authority that you didn't stand in line for it on day 1. Or stop and cheer when the last available one in Century City sold out within 2 hours of introduction. What kind of poor excuse for a lemming are you?

Big Brother

Anybody else watching? The hot girl who's picture was posted here last week (jen) who doesn't like being touched cried actual tears because she didn't think the picture of her on the wall was flattering. She cried both in front of the other houseguests and in the diary room. She may be the stupidest person ever cast for this show, and that is quite an accomplishment.

Between that and the gonorrhea, this season already has me hooked. I'm a sucker.
