eta - she was in front of me the other day when I was late for the Bart. I nearly rear-ended her because she stopped. Rolled a little and then stopped again. In her defense, there were cars coming 3 intersections away.

Half the population is armed in this state. Are you crazy?

But only if he doesn't opt out, which is why the Yanks are trying to get him to sign an extension before the end of the season. Unless George offers him a ridiculous amount ($250mm for 8 more years), Boras strings this out until at least the last day ARod has to opt out.

Exactly. And this is the financial fact that is embarrasingly left out of nearly all articles discussing his contract/opt-out.

If she's so slow turning right, what makes her think she can draw faster than you?*

*On the 50% chance you're armed.

Are there any states that don't allow right turns on red? I think this may be a myth. Anyone?

He's already said as much. But he's no idiot. He knows we will pay more if he doesn't negotiate until the end, especially with that $30 million kicker we're getting from Texas. But how many teams are going to be in a bidding war for ARod at $30 million a year, exactly? Learn from the Beltran fiasco.

They all do. Years ago there was some highway appropriations bill that required all states to allow right on red to help save fuel. Massachusetts had been a hold out.* To comply, they changed law to allow right on red, but then promptly put up "no right on red" signs at something like 99.99% of intersections. That succeeded for one year of appropriations.

*Given massachusetts drivers, for which most traffic control signals are at most advisory, it made some sense to have a red light mean stop in all instances.

The Red Sox have an opening (almost literally) at shortstop.

Adding to what I said earlier about San Fran, recall also their idiotic and highly lambasted 7 year/ $126MM deal for a number 3 starter.

New York does not. Although this rule apparently does not apply to anyone with a New Jersey license plate.

To be clear, I am referring to New York City, not the state.
