1. Go for extended massage, because your body needs decreased stress (stress = lowered immune function); and

2. Duh, call your doc for antibiotics (I understand Hank [?] has an iron-clad story to get some - something about coughing up green stuff).

I'd like a hobby that would deposit $ into my account bi-weekly.

By coincidence, I am going to the dr tomorrow morning for something. I will consult with her re: sinuses. I get infected enough to not want to go straight to antibiotics for something that seems pretty mild; I'll get her to look at my ears -- if they are infected, I'll go for the antibiotics. Otherwise, we focus on draining.

I wish it felt like a hobby . . .

AON, while I wait for 30 seconds to pass, I made a tasty beef stir fry tonight. Yum.

Some facial accupressure may help with the drainage but it's usually just temporary.

And in Sunny's absence, I recommend getting one of her "snot rocket" neti pots (also sold at Walgreen's as Sinus Rinse or something like that).

There's no doubt that ARod is worth more today and probably will produce more for the next 5 years. The question is whether it's likely that Arod will continue to be twice as valuable as Cabrera 7, 8 or 10 years from now. That I doubt.
Waitaminute - you think any team is actually going to offer him a 7 year [or longer] contract?

And you think he'll accept an extension that's not at least 4 years? His current contract has 3 more years on it.

Sure, I'm letting Boras frame the discussion, but that just makes me like every MLB GM. In any case, I still don't think that ARod is worth Cabrera plus a #1 or #2 starter.

Oh, come on, A-Rod may yet carry the Yanks to a .500 year this year. He's certainly trying.

What would a starter do for them?

So, he'd leave a park which is hurts his power numbers a bunch (his 3 full seasons he's hit 30% more homers on the road; Arod was closer to even split in Seattle) and probably be in the the middle of a better line-up giving him more RBI opportunity.
I'll concede this point.

This is misleading. ARod is a freak. Most really good major league players level off way below where ARod has been. Just because Cabrera has similar numbers to ARod at the same age does not mean he is going to improve at the same rate as ARod. He may be at or near his peak right now (which would be fine with me). It also doesn't mean he will have the longevity and sustained success ARod has had. ARod is a physical specimen. Cabrera, well, let's just do a photo comparison of the two, who are 8 years apart in age:

At age 40, no. But we're not talking about a comparison of just the last few years. We're talking about the next ten years. And I think that if you total them up, ARod will have better numbers.

With the notable exception of Bonds, hitters don't get better after they're 32. They do get better, especially w/r/t power stats, after they are 24--Arod is just one example.
Okay, but ARod is 30 right now and he is on pace to break Maris' record (for real). I don't see a serious drop off in talent for ARod over the next 5 years. The guy is a stat machine. And if he stays in shape, I don't think the drop off will be that extreme after that.

Anyway, if ARod wants more than $30 mil, fuck him. I'll take Cabrera.

I seem to recall your saying that you no longer work as a lawyer. What is it you do for money?

Actually, that's not the question. We both agreed he's not worth twice as much as Cabrera. The question essentially is: Will Cabrera's last 5 years over the next decade be so much better than ARod's last 5, that he ends up with better total numbers over the next 10 years?

A-Rod is the best all-around player in baseball. The Yankees will and should pay him whatever it takes to keep him. If he leaves, it will be because he wants to leave NY.
