It even made my office anger go away.
Law has left me an empty and bitter shell of a person with little left of my soul or humanity, I hate all of it and everyone.

I smoke a fair amount of weed and also drink heavily now, but those seem only able to keep me at my status quo of a walking dead zombie-like automoton. Would Xanax help me?

I'll give them credit for convincing people to cheer rabidly and spend money freely to watch advertising swirl around them. I don't watch, except when I turn on something else and it's the end of the race. It strikes me as fixed as wrestling--every race I've seen seems to end with a sprint to the finish, donuts in the infield, and more advertising.

I think she is aware that I don't particularly like him.

ETA I thought you, Mr. Formerly Permanently Angry, might have insight.
I'd normally say don't tell her, but if she's just going to get worse and you think its going to fuck up her life is she stays so angry, tell her. Maybe you'll lose a friend for a time, but it might cause her an epiphany she'd otherwise never have and make her life better.

I was angry at the job. I left it. I'm not angry as much anymore. It works. Somebody was giving me shit a little while ago saying I gave up and was a loser. The loser sticks with the losing gig and tries to beat it. When you start defining yourself in terms of being at war with something or just slogging through something you hate for money every day you're just pissing away your life.

How is any race not compelling entertainment? Events in track are done in 10-45 seconds. Forget the distance events. Swimming isn't quite as good, but still. It's some kind of primal urge to watch. If you're channel surfing and you see sprinters lined up in the blocks, do you skip past or wait 10 seconds? (Me--only if they keep having false starts . . . )

Fuck doctors. They've turned a bunch of my friends to zombies. You want the lows - otherwise you can't enjoy the highs.

To answer your next question, no. I didn't get the xanax from a doc.

I confused what authority figures she is angry at. I can't recall being angry at an authority figures since, um, high school (??). Does she walk around singing that John Cougar Mellencamp song? Does she have a lot of run-ins with The Law??

Before partnership, my at-that-time-former-mentor (former in that he had cashed out and left the law) warned me that he thought he could beat it.....he was different and he would change the construct to be on his terms.....but eventually he realized he couldn't win. No matter how good he was, the law is an irreparably unconquerable world of fuckedupedness. He told me that I needed to just keep stackin my chips up, bill what I gotta bill while I'm hot and then mutherfuckin get out the game......but I am not sure, I think I really am different and maybe he was weak. I still think I can beat it and win.

Help?

man man man everyone has a different breaking point. some go in house. some survive and become top partners and [to me] rake in bank and live the life. some leave law completely and are very very happy. what would to you constitute beating it?

Let's go to the local tonight and discuss the near run-ins with The Law. Because, yeah, in a really mild way, but ways that are stupid and entirely avoidable. Nothing that would go on her permanent record.

It's a very long-term relationship (10+ years) and they've been married for more than 7 years.

I almost specifically addressed that. It's not you and him. I like Mr. Man.

One of the questions bnb asked me the other day is why I stick around. One of the answers I gave to [another person] my good friend by email was that I want to leave on my own terms and not be forced out a la purse junkie or paigow--maybe my stubborn streak? she replied at what point is that more important than your own self-preservation and self esteem and is it a form of control if you "insist" on not giving in just for the sake of not giving in? she had a very valid point. obviously I didn't really truly listen since I'm here but I at least agreed to compartmentalize and try my best not to engage in that type of senseless bickering it is draining. but it is food for thought

Yes, yes, I hear you. The lack of an afterlife is what fuels my lack of any moral center. Why bother? At this point I just want to destroy the careers of my enemies, steal their books and reap the profits and sex their women. Like Trump but with better hair.
