Yes, they were absurd. But they could fucking play. You had a killer guitar player and an amazing singer. When they played simple rock stuff, they were amazing. Ever watch that Live Aid set? Fuck. They blew everybody off the stage.

And Freddy got everybody backstage as well.
Bite my ass. I liked them then, and I like them now. And no spread-collar wearing, no-socks-with-his seersucker-suit motherfucker calls me pompous and gets away with it.

And now 7-Up grows in farmers fields and you can buy it in the produce aisle.

Reason number something-or-other that I love the New Pornographers: AC Newman dropping a reference to "Heads Up, 7 Up" in a song.

I can understand that. I dig Craig Finn, but I can understand how the vocal style might turn some people off. He sings a lot more on the latest album.

But the Koob is a fucking monster on guitar. I kind of wish I could remember the show more clearly.

I kind of felt the same way about him in The Hold Steady and when he was in his prior band, Lifter Puller. But he totally won me over when I saw The Hold Steady live (something that did not happen seeing Lifter Puller live).

I bet when you read "miner helmets", you got the EXACT same picture in your head that I did.

Does anyone ever get the feeling that there's a whole 'nother thread that they're not reading?

Why couldn't he have posted this before I bought the CD the first time he did one of his "you really have to buy _____" posts?

Probably so. Second was the image of my college gynecologist.

I prefer the first one.

In case there is any confusion, I don't think you should see Festival Express. You would not enjoy it. I want to keep my track record with you.

For Hank: Lucero covering Jawbreaker.

I have never worn a spread collar with a fucking seersucker suit, which your grammatically opaque post could be taken to suggest. It is a button down only look.

And yes, wearing socks with it is offensive. That's not pompous, that's just, as you'd say, "good taste."
