are you offended as a Minnesotian, notorious for their box wine consumption, or is you offense based from your position of guardian of quality here on this board?

It's the Fashion Board.

Or get your neck suctioned.

ETA Well, at least I wasn't the 30th rec for In Cold Blood--maybe they figured you'd for sure already read it? I also read Kite Runner over vacation and really enjoyed it. Next up is Sometimes a Great Notion by Ken Kesey, which was recently named Best Oregon Book Ever by Portland Monthly magazine.
|
Yep, I read it, but it's still a good recommendation. I like True Crime novels that are well-written and don't just wallow in disgusting details. In Cold Blood set a high standard and it's a shame how many truly awful true crime books have been written since.

I would be somewhat surprised if per capita box wine consumption in Minnesota exceeded that in Michigan. In fact, I would be willing to bet you that it does not. Just to be sporting, I'll even let you exclude the UP.

maybe a year ago, but we Michiganders keep up on the latest. http://boxedwinespot.blogspot.com/20...big-thing.html
minnesota would win the boxed wine war now.

I like those pouches. I wonder if you can get one for a CamelBak.

On romance-y stuff, do you like chick lit (Jane Green etc.), contemporary romance or historical (Mary Jo Putney, Mary Balogh, Jo Beverly, etc.)?
I don't want money, I just want them to go to a good home.

I like both kinds (I've actually read some Jane Green, now that I think about it -- is she the one who wrote Mr. Maybe, or am I confusing her with someone else?). As long as it's well-written ( and again, doesn't take place during a war and doesn't involve the mafia) I will probably enjoy it. I don't like the romance-y stuff where the heroine is perfect, though. I'm always annoyed when the protagonist is young, has a genius I.Q., a hot job and everybody loves her. Booooring.
And your books would definitely be going to a good home. In fact, I give the paperbooks I buy to my mother and sister after I read them (neither of them really has a lot of money to spare to buy books but they love reading) so your books would likely end up going to three good homes in sequence.

Someone ought to use Chuck Close as an avatar.
That is all.

that would be great. my health club tried to start a spin class for alcoholics, like:
sprint;
hill climb;
easy downhill- take a long swig!
mostly we kept spilling our drinks, some guys even fell out of the saddle (no lock in on the shoes:shame: ). if we worked out a CamelBak arrangement I bet management would let us try again.

That was at the Walker for a long time. It is quite large and thus somewhat disturbing in person.

I haven't done romance in years (though I have a major soft spot still for Mary Jo Putney), but I have picked up a bunch of chick lit in the last few years. I particularly like Lisa Jewell, Jane Green, Jennifer Weiner, and especially Emily Barr.
Someone in the class ahead of me in high school just sold a chick lit book. I sort of am inspired to try my hand at it later on this year after I get some other stuff done.
