Also visually stunning. Alas, no ninjas or pirates, though.

True, but I meant real ninjas. You know, like Jeff Speakman.

J. Fred Muggs is famous.

Or not famous enough. See question #2. Answers to the quiz are here, and let's just say that it exposed me as ignorant. Post-mortem here.

Leon Lett Thanksgiving 1993 vs. Tony Romo NFC Wild Card game 2007?

As a life long Dallas hater, it's hard to pick which one is more satisfying, though the Romo bobble certainly had me smiling all day yesterday.

The Leon Lett gaffe was of no consequence. Romo lost them the game by literally dropping the ball.

It looked like he was going to score for a hot second. If the kicker had chipped the eventual tackler even a little bit, he would have.

I went to my parents' house yesterday to watch the Iggles game. My dad was crowing about the Dallas game, and kept saying how happy he was that it had gone down the way it did.

When the Eagles lined up with 3 seconds left on the clock to kick that field goal, I kept thinking that payback was a bitch.

When my dad helpfully pointed out that the Eagles lost a game this year on a 62-yard field goal, I threw a pillow at him and left the room. I simply could not watch.

I'll be in the Superdome on Saturday. Nothing good has ever happened for me there (see ie, the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1988 or 1987 NCAA Basketball Championship. See also, Superbowl XV). Nonetheless, I'll be there, and if nothing else, I'll get a good meal out of it.

Do you mean no consequence in terms of the whole season or no consequence in terms of the outcome of the game?

The Leon Lett gaffe in the Superbowl was of no consequence (fumble recovery, waddle down field, ball knocked out by Beebe at the two). The Lett gaffe on Thanksgiving against Miami (blocked fieldgoal with some ridiculously small amount of time left on the clock, ball would have been dead if he hadn't touched it, he slipped, and Miami recovered at the 1 and was able to try another field goal and win the game) lost the game for Dallas.

Seems to me that the Lett (Thanksgiving) gaffe is a more embarrassing gaffe, since it was a thorough misunderstanding of the basic rules of the game of football. The Romo bobble was certainly a choke and lost the game, but I think that it's a different, lesser level of idoicy than Lett.

Certainly satisfying though. (spree: Romo bumble)

You are correct. My bad. I was thinking about the Superbowl mistake, which is what automatically comes to mind when I hear "Leon Lett."

I still think Romo's was worse. It was a perfect snap. He just flat-out dropped it. Lett could say he wasn't thinking. At worst, he's stupid. Romo's only excuse is: I forgot how to catch in the biggest game of my life.

Oh, c'mon. That was IU's last championship. You've had a much more recent one.

It was funny, I saw the name "Gramatica" trotting out to the field to kick, and I said to my table mates that the game was over. Gramaticas don't generally miss field goals. It didn't occur to me that the snap would be an issue.

I am told that I frightened a waiter.

I have always wondered how it became a tradition to have the quarterback be the holder. It would seem to make more sense to have someone who catches for a living in there when you really need the ball to be caught.
